Guest guest
Hi Patty-- In our case, they told us that the plagio was not only cosmetic. Related issues explained to us were TMJ, stigmatism, difficulty fitting glasses, and difficulty fitting in bike helmets and such. There may be other potentially related issues that I am not aware. As far as the craniosynotosis goes, our LO was never x-rayed for that. His pediatrician, the PT and the folks at CT were all convinced that it was plagio. H. Merrick, five months (today!!), 11mm plagio, mild tort, three weeks in DOC band > > Our daughter got fitted for a helmet last week and we are waiting for > it to come in. I read through some web sites and many said the need > for this was cosmetic only but the physical therapist (our daughter > has torticollis as well) said it is important to wear the helmet so > the brain can grow properly. Can anyone please tell me what you have > heard in this regard. Also, my daughter's pediatrician said the only > real way to know whether it is plagiocephaly or craniosynotosis is the > take an x-ray but did not suggest that we do so as it appears to be > plagiocephaly (flat on the right side). If anyone has any information > on craniosynotosis and what would happen if it was that and she was > not treated, please let me know. I don't think it is however because > her head is very big (97%) and the nurse said it would not grow that > big if it was that. Thanks for any feedback in advance. >
