Hello everyone,

Here is where we are at: My son, , is 20 months old. He started

full time day care at the beginning of Sept. (with his 3 yr. Old

brother) He was there, I'd say probably 3 days in total, got sick right

away, double ear infection, strep throat, congested chest. He had never

been in day care before this time. Then my middle son got the stomach

flu, of course, Matty caught it, runny runny poops for a few days. He

has had a runny nose probably throughout the last 6 weeks on and off.

Well, just last week, near the end of the week, his cough started. The

worst that we have ever heard. By Saturday morning, I was really

worried. Called the hospital where our clinic is, and they said bring

him in for assessment. He had a fever, 38.8. Found out he had a right

ear infection. Did a chest x-ray to rule out pneumonia, doctors said

that it clear of that but looked congested, especially on the right

side. He was put on Cephlex . They took a sputum sample to check for

bacteria and sent us home. 48 hours later is today. He is not much

better , not any worse. Called them again, the culture is not back yet.

But if he is growing anything, they said the Cephlex would fight that.

He is very wheezy, not sure if it is because of a virus or asthma or CF

related. We have increased his nebs.to every four hours. He has

pulmicort 2x/daily. Other times just ventilin. Doing CPT 4x/day.

Don't know what else to do. I put my trust in the doctors, they don't

seem to want to admit him yet for IV antibiotics. I guess they don't

want him at the hospital unless absolutely necessary. But they don't

hear his cough at night, he is gagging. We are all sleep deprived.

Help...feeling so frustrated and don't know what to do.
