You skinny thing!!!! I am so envious! But I woke up with saggy cheeks today -- some more fat is *gone* so I know the weight will be going down at least a tad this week. Yippee! Guest guest
Hi Tracie: Most post-ops don't mind being asked to be a contact. They are willing to sit down and take the time to write to pre-ops, answer questions, talk about their experience. In fact, it is flattering and I personally consider it an honor to be asked. But you might want to ask particular people at their own email address as opposed to sending out a general request. When you ask personally, then the person feels that you want to hear from them in particular and that you're not just trying to get this portion of your packet done. When you ask a post- op personally, most will answer right away and are glad to do so. When you send out a post to the group asking for post-ops to do this...quite a few of us assume that you might not want to hear from them in particular and that perhaps someone else has already answered you. So a personal message is best. I am always happy to be a contact. My email address is: florence@... Best wishes with your packet. It's lots of work but it's a real learning experience and the best part is that at the end of the work is the surgery and then...the really great part...getting thin! I had diabetes and was concerned about later quality of life. The surgery was easy, virtually pain free and I have had no problems at all. I have lost 17 lbs in less than three weeks. I consider that very good, because I weighed 232lbs and I wore a size 16. I carried my weight very well. As soon as my insurance said they would pay, I said " I'm ready " . I waited 7 days and stayed on all liquid, but days 8-10 I had mashed potatoes and by day 14 I could eat anything I wanted. I of course can only eat small quantites, but the weird part is that I'm never hungry in the stomach, only in the head! For me, this was a great thing, because I have not taken any diabetes medicine since surgery and so far my sugars have been good. I will go for my one month appointment and get blood work done which will tell me truly how good I'm doing. I feel better and my self-confidence is much improved. Hope I've helped. If you have any question just e-mail me back. Jeanne 8/23/00 232/
Guest guest
Tracie, Hi, I had my MGB on 4/10/00. I feel wonderful. I started out at 218, an am now at about 160. My triglycerides wer over 1200 at the time of my surgery. I was told I would have to take meds the rest of my life. I took my last pill the night before my surgery, and at 3 months post-op, my triglycerides were at 204. My doctor is thrilled. Good luck with everything, and I hope this helps with your contacts. If you need any other help, just ask. Take Care, Tonni 4/10/
