Guest guest
>> Is it " ok " to introduce lentels before the six month mark when beans can be tried? << Meleah, I've personally found that I tolerate the red and brown lentils better than either navy pea beans or limas. Which is to say, I can have them more frequently than the beans, which is a good thing when making hearty soups. I use them to make chili, and a mock " red beans " mix for the classic New Orleans dish of red beans and sausage. As with everything, it's all a matter of what the individual tolerates, but I did experiment with navy pea beans around the 4-5 month mark and was OK with them. Other folks still weren't handling them at over a year. -- Marilyn (New Orleans, Louisiana, USA) Undiagnosed IBS 25 Years, SCD Five Years Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund
Guest guest
That really sounds like they are not yet ready for lentils. Did you use the pink lentils? Or the regular greenish-grey ones? Patti lentels Ever since we introduced lentels about a month ago, I've noticed that my 18mth. old has large, smelly, mushy stools pretty shortly after eating them. I actually remember my other two kids doing this when they were toddlers. Would this be due to just a still developing and immature digestive system? Should I just hold off on letting him eat lentels for several months? I just asked on a previous post how long the children have been on the diet. There was a railroad called the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western.. DL & W People used to call it " Delay, Linger and Wait. " It may be what you will choose to do with nut oieces and lentils. Carol F. SCD 6 years, celiac
Guest guest
I used the pink lentels. I'm thinking that you and Carol are right that toddlers just don't have a matured gut to handle digesting beans and lentels. Ethan, 5yrs., and iel, 3yrs., have no problems with this nnow, but did as toddlers.
