,

I was told to apply as soon as I stopped working. This is to get the

actual decision from SSDI in a reasonable amont of time. The thing about

the 5 months is that they don't pay you for the first six months of your

disability, so some people wait, which only makes it take longer to get

the actual decision. I applied the day after I stopped working. I didn't

get my approval until 11 months later (after the initial denial and

appeal denial). I got my approval from the trial hearing judge and I'm

told that's how it is for most of the people who apply for SSDI.
