Guest guest Posted April 8, 2004 Report Share Posted April 8, 2004 , I was told to apply as soon as I stopped working. This is to get the actual decision from SSDI in a reasonable amont of time. The thing about the 5 months is that they don't pay you for the first six months of your disability, so some people wait, which only makes it take longer to get the actual decision. I applied the day after I stopped working. I didn't get my approval until 11 months later (after the initial denial and appeal denial). I got my approval from the trial hearing judge and I'm told that's how it is for most of the people who apply for SSDI. Kimber -- Kimber Vallejo, CA hominid2@...
