Tammy,

Just thought I'd let you know...yesterday was the second worst day of my

life. First I got word that my insurance DENIED the procedure because I

" don't have significant comorbities that exist with my obestiy. " (I just

got that over the phone from the out-of-network specialist so until I see

what they said in writing I can't fire back an intelligent appeal letter.)

When I was over crying and cussing - not in that order mind you- I received

news from Barbara in Dr. R's office that he had received my packet and

approved me for the procedure. Then I just started bawling all over again.

Somehow I have to make this happen.

Tarri, do you mind me asking what comorbidities you DO have, that were listed

in the info the insurance company got? I've already got a *few*, but with my

long family history diabetes and high blood pressure, it's only a matter of

time.... :oT

Robin,

Depression and a moderate social anxiety (only cause I hate myself for being

so fat.) Guess being embarrassed to go out in public isn't good enough. My

family history is laced with diabetes, hypertension, and obesity. I have

had back trouble and right knee trouble but I guess it's not bad enough to

count. When I'm not so mad (I'm still way too mad) I want to ask Premier

for their measurable, objective criteria of just what the comorbidity

criteria are. How bad do I have to be? I'm guessing it's an arbitrary

decision made by some skinny person. The ironic thing is while I was on the

phone with the insurance company to find out my approval or disapproval, the

prerecorded message says " Premier is dedicated to preventative

interventions. " What a load of crap.
