Guest guest
That might depend.... of course, everyone is different. Did you use fresh, raw apple? I guess bananas might cause the opposite, depending on whether they were ripe... or slightly green. I'm just going by what has been reported over the years here. Also, applesauce and bananas are among the handful of bland foods that are generally recommended to be eaten first by pediatricians for children who have been going through a bout of vomiting and diarrhea (such as with a flu bug). So, I suppose it just depends. Patti apple/pears causing Pooh???? I emailed earlier about pears possibly causing runny pooh. Patti you said apples and bananas are supposed to do the opposite and firm up pooh, but after talking with my husband, he reminded me that we used to give G , who is ASD, applejuice and apples to make him pooh when he was constipated. (he often had constipation prior to the diet, pooping every other day or every 2 days) If that didn't work we went to pears and then prune juice. That was always the recommendation by pediatrician, friends and good ol grandma. It seems to me that the one thing my child does enjoy, his apple/pear sauce, may be contributing to his runny pooh. Never in the past would he have eaten such quantities of apples/pears, especially morning noon and night for 9 days. Just need clarification. Our pooh has gone from grey to tan/carmel color within the last 2 days so maybe something good is going on. Becky
Guest guest
Patti Yes we use fresh, raw apple. Steamed of course, then mixed with steamed pear in the blender for applesauce. My bananas are almost ready (praise the Lord). That's the only thing he will eat for breakfast, refuses every pancake i've tried. I am going to keep him on the apple/pear sauce, as like you said, it is bland. He ate some cheese tonight about an ounce or so. I think if I can get a little more cheese in him along with the amount of chicken he is eating, the apples and pears should be counter-acted if they were possibly doing anything. You guys have been doing this LONG before me. I trust what you are saying. If it wasn't for you guys, I'd be lost. His doctor just recommended the diet to us and gave us the pecanbread website. I've been on my own since then with regards to doctor's input. If i hadn't found you guys, my poor G would be MESSED up cause I would have just followed the book with little knowledge on how it should be modified for kids on the ASD spectrum. I know I say this all the time, but you guys are really a blessing in my life. My prayers always include asking God to direct me to the people who can help G and I really feel like he brought me to you guys for a reason!! Thanks Becky Patti wrote: That might depend.... of course, everyone is different. Did you use fresh, raw apple? Guest guest
My son has been on SCD for a couple of years. His diarrhea started back last week. We removed apples from his diet, and the diarrhea cleared up. Everyone's different, I guess, but apples were the cause of his diarrhea. Re: apple/pears causing Pooh???? Guest guest
, Were the apples your son was eating raw? Or cooked? That makes a big difference for some.
