Guest guest
Well,I guess we are now cannibalizing,or so it appears. The questions being asked of are the same questions that are in the minds of those that judge us for our weight and sometimes, from the rude ones, they make them out of their mouths, when THEY look at us.I agree no one on this list should EVER ask anyone of us,if they are dieting or exercising or any other questions that are PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE.If were telling a story about some clerk coming up to her in a dressing room and asking her 'honey, have you tried the new abc diet or excuse me Ma'm have you thought about getting out and exercising' there would be such an onslaught of POOR DEAR and OH,THAT SAME THING... and YOU SHOULD MAKE SURE SHE GET'S FIRED!BUT when we turn on our own,it's OK?Somebody please explain this to me!I am preop and I NEED to hear more than how wonderful this all is.As a matter of fact,I don't NEED to hear that it is great I WANT to hear that it is great and I NEED to hear about the PROBLEMS so I can make an informed decision. If you do not have REAL compassion and understanding that LINDA has every right to be disappointed, angry, and irritated then don't respond.I am incensed that we would treat ourselves exactly like 'THE NON-OBESE' people treat us.What is that?,I feel you have every right to be infuriated by the resposes and to be upset about your losses and the fact that you are GAINING is so scary.Good Luck with DrR. BUT when we turn on our own,it's OK?Somebody please explain this to me! >> I think what the difference is, that we all talk very frankly on this list (of which the subject is basically WEIGHT LOSS AND OBESITY).... 's weight loss is not the business of the 'clerk', but because she posts on this list, it IS our business. posts how disappointed she is of her weight loss and the fact that she's gained some... OF COURSE we're going to try to make her feel better by offering support, suggestions, sympathy, and how we might feel about being in her situation.... but several people did just that and took it very defensively. No one attacked ... they offered up suggestions, anything, to try and make her feel better about it. What did expect from that post, no responses? No one else on this list is as disappointed at their surgery results than , AND, I'd say the majority of people ON this list are PRE-OP... wouldn't the POST-OP list be a better place to post such an email, if you're looking for people who might have answers, people who've 'been there, done that'? ..of course no one else is going to be able to TRULY know how she feels.. so the people responding are NOT in her position and are only offering up support, and were attacked for it. I didn't offer any suggestions... guess it was a good call on my part, and my defending the people who did is probably a bad call. ::sigh:: such is life. ~Robin
Guest guest
Dear Janet, DITTO! I couldn't agree with you more. I have had a few of the same remarks that insinuate that I am doing something wrong since I have only lost 16 pounds in 5 weeks. You go . I totally sympathize! Sherry in NC.
