Tracey,

Being tired and having a temp.... those symptoms certainly sound like they could

be caused from die-off, in a child who has only been on SCD three weeks. This

is very common in the first few weeks.

I think the " crampy " belly could also be attributed to that. I don't know about

the yellowy color... unless she's been eating a lot of carrots... then the

carotene can tint the skin a bit. Harmless, if so.

Yellowish skin could indicate something to do with the liver, though.... are

the whites of her eyes yellowish, too? Many of the toxins from bacterial

die-off probably have to be processed by the liver.... and could tax that organ

in the beginning. If you're uneasy about it, or if it seems to be worsening or

not going away within a short time, you may want to have her check by the

doctor.

If you are seeing symptoms, such as the swollen eyes, that you feel could be

attributed to sensitivity to eggs, then you can certainly take those out....

and maybe try introducing them again later on, after more gut healing has

occurred (MONTHS from now).

Removing honey would only be " helpful " if you suspect she has rampant yeast

problems..... but the symptoms you're reporting sound more like die-off to me,

which *should* be temporary. Baths with epsom salts should help her with

de-toxing.

I honestly am not familiar with this cheese you mentioned:

<<tasty coon cheese (matured), >>

I would definitely stick to the cheeses from the legal list in BTVC that are

more common (cheddar, jack).... rather than the stronger, more aged cheeses, for

now.

swollen eyes

Hi,

My 6yr old daughter has been off colour for a few weeks now. She had a lump

behind her ear which has gone down alot. In the past week her skin has turned a

yellowy colour and she seems to be very tired throughout the day. Her belly

seems to be a bit crampy and she doesn't seem to be eating as much. At times she

seems to have a temp too. I was reading in the btvc book that if you reduce the

honey intake that could help. We have been making the cheese biscuits with tasty

coon cheese (matured), so I'll stop using that cheese as it's a bit strong.

We'll also remove eggs from her diet as her eyes used to swell when she was

little when she ate them. Are there anyother suggestions we could do? She has

been having yoghurt most days.

Tracey (Darcy has been scd for 3 wks now)

My son Nate gets a yellow skin color when going through die off and

is passing alot of toxins. The best thing we found to do is increase

fluids. I have taken him to have blood count done on liver and he was

fine. BUt no yellow of eyes. He was also born with dice. He is

now 16 months and has gone through scheduled die off twice @ 2/3

months and 5 months.

Hi Tracey,

What fruits and veggies is she eating? Are they peeled and cooked?

Goat or cow yogurt?

What starter are you using?

Hi Tracey,

> We have been very basic. All vegies and fruits are peeled, seeded

and cooked. We eat zuchinni, carrots, beans and spinach. The fruit

has mainly been pears and we have just started apples.

Before pulling out anything you could try epsom salt baths and/or

activated charcoal to see if it's die off. If that doesn't help you

could go back to the intro for a day or two and slowly re-add foods.

How long has she been eating yogurt? How much? What starter?
