Guest guest
OK guys, Please forgive me for just sending this one post to both groups but I am just not up to writing this twice. I have had a rough few days. Tuesday AM I had light spotting and of course I freaked out thinking right away of the miscarriage that I had before we had . LOOONG story short- I had an ultrasound and they say that I am about 6 weeks along but they only saw a gestational sack, no " yolk " or fetus yet. Now it is still early so they are not saying that this means that means doom and gloom right now but that it is possible that I might miscarry or have to have a D & C or take the med to make me miscarry it if it does not develop something in the next few weeks They call that a " blighted ovum " (I think they come up with THE most horrible names for these things). Well, we are hoping that something gestates this week so when I go they will see something and we will have good news but it might take longer. Has anyone ever heard of this or had it happen to them? I am very upset. keep us in your prayers, please. Mom of , 5 with CF

Guest guest
, I am so sorry but I also have to say don't expect the worst. I have heard that when is a boy it takes longer for the baby to show on the ultrasound, old wives tell, who knows, sorry boys, but boys are lazier. Did you have a really full bladder? Please, think positive, I know is hard, but if anything don't give it too much thought. I think the stress is worst for you right now. A blighted ovum is basically a miscarriage, there was concepcion but for some unknown reason the egg did not develop. You will be in my special thoughts, think positive. > OK guys, > Please forgive me for just sending this one post to both groups but I am just not up to writing this twice. > I have had a rough few days. Guest guest
, This is actually a pretty common occurrence with early ultrasounds. Your dates can easily be off by a week or more. If you are five weeks (or less) along, there isn't much to see. The next ultrasound will be telling. Also, did your doctor draw blood to check your HCG levels? These levels should double every 48 hours. The blood test could reassure you while you wait for the next ultrasound. A pregnant girl never wants to see blood, but that is also very common. Good luck and try not to go crazy!! Colleen Mom to Elyse, 2 w/cf pregnancy status OK guys, Please forgive me for just sending this one post to both groups but I am just not up to writing this twice. Guest guest
Hi I had the exact same thing happen to me. I was about 6 weeks pregnant with my second child when I had a fair amount of spotting so they gave me a vaginal ultrasound and they could only find the sac and said it may be a blighted ovum. So I had to wait another week or 10 days before I had another ultrasound and luckily for us they found our wee boy in there. A happy ending for us and I hope it is for you too.
