Guest guest
Michele, Garlic and onions on the intro would be hazardous. They are just too gassy and fibrous. That's why Elaine had us strain the soup and take the onions out before putting the carrots and the chicken back in. You can cook onions to a pulp and they will still be too fibrous. Squash is not an intro food. The intro foods are laid out very clearly in BTVC. After a few days of that please refer to the stages list posted at www.pecanbread.com under food preparation. Charlene Uc 8 years SCD almost 6 years Is it okay to season meats with salt, garlic (fresh), onion (fresh), & various other single spices during the intro? Is squash allowed or is the only intro veggie mushy carrots? Thanks, Michele ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ No virus found in this incoming message. Guest guest
The kids wouldnt' be eating the onions - but it is okay to cook the soup with the onions in it for flavor? That's what I needed to know. They won't be eating the soup anyway; none of them even eat soup. I'm going to have to give them basic plain chicken & the carrots for 2 days. Maybe some plain meatballs for " variety " . Only 1 of the 4 eats eggs either. Thanks, Michele > > Michele, > > Garlic and onions on the intro would be hazardous. They are just too gassy and fibrous. Guest guest
Sorry, just turned to the recipe in BTVC & it states all that clearly. We're starting off on the wrong foot here already as we're all sick this week. I have to start though or my chicken & veggies will spoil so I'm making the soup today anyway. The kids will eat chicken & carrots & hopefully meatballs if I can make them. It's tough to do a lot of cooking with baby being sick as well as myself. Thanks, Michele > > Michele, > > Garlic and onions on the intro would be hazardous. They are just too gassy and fibrous. Guest guest
Just some quick questions. We're redoing the intro (again, sigh, long story) for a day or two and I just want to be SURE we're on the right track this time. applesauce isn't listed - skip during intro? Farmer's Friendly (from Whole Foods) - o.k. to use for cottage cheese? can't tolerate carrots - green beans cooked/pureed o.k. substitute? sneaky gr. bean pancakes - o.k. to use cinnamin, vanilla, butter from this recipe during intro? start Freeda SCD multivitamin and lyosan acidophilus (from Lucy's Kitchen) right from the intro or add in later? This restart is not due to bad bowel movements...didn't know if that made a difference. Thanks for being there for us struggling-to-get-it-right moms out there! Guest guest
<<applesauce isn't listed - skip during intro?>> That's correct.... applesauce is not an intro food. <<Farmer's Friendly (from Whole Foods) - o.k. to use for cottage cheese?>> I honestly don't know... I've only ever used one brand of DCCC, and it's not that one. I'll let someone else answer. <<can't tolerate carrots - green beans cooked/pureed o.k. substitute?>> I would suggest substituting butternut squash. <<sneaky gr. bean pancakes - o.k. to use cinnamin, vanilla, butter from this recipe during intro?>> No, the spices and flavorings would *generally* not be used on intro. Maybe just a slight bit of butter. Simplify as much as possible. <<start Freeda SCD multivitamin and lyosan acidophilus (from Lucy's Kitchen) right from the intro or add in later? >> I think I would suggest you start these right AFTER intro.
