Guest guest
Hi Donna, I'm surprised this is the first time they have recommended a video swallow study to be done. Wasn't she diagnosed with reflux early on? When Ellie was diagnosed with reflux, they had us get one done to make sure she was not aspirating anything into her lungs. I can definitely understand your disappointment. At least you found now! Hope Mikayla had a happy birthday Mom to Ellie 1yr wCF and Jack 3yrs noCF We found out Mikayla's aspirating... She's been having trouble weaning from her bottle. She just doesn't take any volumes from her sippy, so before beginning behavior mod therapy, her CF Dr. ordered a video swallow. OMG - she was aspirating with her unthickened formula and also with thickened formula. She's always struggled with her bottle and now we know why! We've taken her off all oral fluids and now we'll feed her peptamin exclusively through her G-Tube. Thank God for the tubie! We'd be in club med if we didn't have it. I'm disappointed that it's taken an entire year to find this out. Poor thing - no wonder she hasn't been fond of fluids. Has anyone else delt with this with a 1 year old? Guest guest
Abby had a video swallow test when she was six months old. She also asperated thickened fluids. She was fed really thickened formula and baby food (by mouth) until she was probably 14 months old. She is now almost two years old and still has to have thickened food, but only thickened to a honey consistency. Gale > She's been having trouble weaning from her bottle.
