Guest guest
et al, Are there any magic words to get the doctor to listen? My PCP is totally upbeat about the Whipple. She says ALL her patients have done fantastically. I wanted to ask if ALL her patients are retired and get to stay home. There is a huge difference between a retired person and those of us with very high stress jobs. Yeah, I could go play mahjong with Myrtle but I could not write a multi dimensional array process. I have to face the 'what if' scenario. What does one do or say to get through? Geez! I feel so awful for you! Trying to do fiscal stuff and feeling like this must be just plain spiffy. I have a horror of being told I am just fine and should go back to work and then getting fired for non-performance. Gads. Suggestions and stories…please! Guest guest
, Can you ask Dr Lehman to write a note to your boss, explaining that you will probably need multiple treatments, if it indeed does help? At least you will know that you are seeing a sympathetic, understanding and knowledgeable doctor regarding your pancreatitis this time. Guest guest
Dear , My Gosh!!! You have certainly been through the ringer this year!!! Your attacks do sound like SOD. Mine can start in a second and stop in a second too. The pain is horrific and one never knows when it will let up. Mine used to last 4-5 hours at a time, I literally thought I was going to die from the pain or lack of breathing ability. Very scarry stuff!!! If you go ahead and have the ERCP there is a chance that you will not feel very good for 4-6 weeks. Everytime I had an ERCP and sphincterotomy, I was down with pain and illness for approximately 4-6 weeks. I once read on a medical site that I should treat myself just like I had any other type of surgery and allow 4-6 weeks for healing. The best advise I ever had. Even though the cut is tiny from the sphincterotomy, it certainly can pack a punch. I hope you are feeling better today. Take it easy with the patches (lol). That was scarry stuff too!!! I haven't tried the pain patches but I am going to ask Dr. Lehman about them when I go see him next. You can always ask him to write you a note to be off from work for a couple of months. He certainly knows first hand what us patients go through and he is very understanding. Take care Kris in TN
Guest guest
Thanks ...yes, I will ask Dr. Lehman to do that. Esp, since I 'm not currently under the care of a GI doc locally. At least that would be something to keep the wolves away from my door as it were. I'm also hoping that he can " educate " my mother as well while she's there. I just hope she doesn't get too bossy w/him as she's known to do. I fully expect her to say something like " You need to fix her problem, she MUST return to work; her family's life is on the line here. " OMG!! I'll just die of embarrassment if she does that, Well gotta run and get my son off to daycare...I'll check back later. thanks , as always > , > > Can you ask Dr Lehman to write a note to your boss, explaining that > you will probably need multiple treatments, if it indeed does help? > > At least you will know that you are seeing a sympathetic, > understanding and knowledgeable doctor regarding your pancreatitis > this time. > >
Guest guest
Thanks Kris...that is exactly what I plan on doing. If I'm deemed able to work at all then I will certainly tell him what my job is all about and that it would be much, much easier to return at say the end of October when all of this closing the /Fy04 books are over and done with!! I feel much better today than I did yesterday and I'm convinced that I had sort of an overdose....how stupid can I be? I was so in need of pain relief but I should have waited for the 25/50 patches to wear off on the 3rd day and then apply the 100mcg one!! Duh!!! When you saw Dr. Lehman, did he cut any of the ducts - I think I saw that he did. For how long did you get complete pain relief after that? I'm very interested in knowing that because that is going to determine whether or not I will be able to return to work. Actually, any info you can give me on the ERCP w/Dr. Lehman would be great. If you'd prefer you can write me off-line at she_remembers@... I'd really like to know details since I'm going to see him next week....things like did you have an acute attack because of the ERCP? Once he dx's you..will he give you a copy of the dx so that you can show your work and PCP and anyone else that might need to know? How does he determine whether or not he's going to do the ERCP? Based on symptoms alone? Stuff like that.... thanks in advance Dear , > My Gosh!!! You have certainly been through the ringer this year!!! > Your attacks do sound like SOD.
