4 HepB vaccines and 4 Influenza shots befor 1 1/2 yrs old!

I am only half way through going through my ASD son's medical

records and i am having a hard time dealing with the findings. if i

didn't have to be here to cook SCD food for my ASD son i would go

ahead and shoot myself after the pediatricians that poisoned him.

are we just guinea pigs for the medical community? i don't remember

asking for 4 influenza shots. why would a pediatrician knowlingly

give a 3rd hepB shot when neither me or my son were at risk? we

moved about 4 mos after my son was born and in the process one of

the hepB shots was not recorded. there is also a possibility of a

5th hepB shot: he might have gotten 2 hepB's when in ICU the 1st

week after a 34 wk preemie birth. but what my current pediatrician

considered the 3rd hepB of the series turns out to be the 4th or

maybe even the 5th shot. before my son turned 1 1/2 he got 23

vaccines & flu shots not including excessive amounts of antibiotics

for ear infections. this same pediatrician gave my son a 10 day

antibiotic for a hangnail, steroid when his 5 mos course of

antibiotics couldn't get rid of his chronic ear infections and told

me that all ASD kids tend to have loose stools and we were just

going to have to live with it. he nade it clear that if we go down

the DAN road that he does not support us and recommended a different

pediatrician 35 miles away who believes in the dan approach. he

would not even write a referral to see a GI or biomedic doctor

because ABA is the only proven treatment for autism.

I totally understand how you feel! Our daughter had 27 vaccines,

including 3 flu shots before the age of 18 months.

She had 2 MMR's, one at 12 months and one at 18 months (I didn't

realize until later that they are not supposed to have the 2nd MMR

until Kindergarten).

From age 1 to 18 months, she had 5 back to back ear infections and

was on numerous rounds of Amoxicillin and Augmenten. She also

received vaccines while being on antibiotics which I was told was

perfectly fine. If I only knew then what I know now! I just thought I

was being a good Mommy and keeping my kids safe :-(

I won't go on about it as I know this is a discussion group for the

diet (which has helped us above and beyond!) but I just wanted to let

you know that you are not alone in how you feel. I try not to dwell

on the past but it is very hard to do when the past has turned into

our present.

If he won't support you, you might want to switch doctors. The other thing that

you might want to think about is staying with him as your child's general

practicianer. I say this because it could really impact him to see you child

improving. He might ask what you're doing to bring about these changes, and

that would open the door. While our pediatrician doesn't really believe that

there's anything to do for an autistic child, he was very comfortable with us

seeing someone following dan protocall as long as it was a medical doctor. He

asked that we keep him in the loop, and that he'd be glad to have copies of any

lab reports, notes from our visits and consultations with Dr. O'Hara, ect. One

thing I'd suggest is to do a little more checking into your son being given too

many Hep B vaccinnes. If this really did happen, and especially if he was given

too many by the hospital staff, I be contacting an attorney. I have a friend in

Ca. who is a labor and delivery nurse. She said that if this happened, then the

hospital, nurses who did this, ect. should be brought up before the state about

it. Also, you might be able to get some financial compensation which would help

you pay for his recovery. The most important thing is that it needs to be

reported if it did happen though. That is unacceptable. It would have simply

been a matter of someone not looking at the child's chart carefully.
