Alkaline reflux gastritis?

Alkaline reflux gastritis is supposedly caused by excessive reflux of upper

gastrointestinal content into the residual stomach after operations for

In this article, the existence of such a syndrome is critically examined and

Ulcer After Roux-en-Y

Hello,

I had Roux-en-Y in June 1998.

I did ok right after surgery until about six weeks after then I started

having bad pains in my stomach. I knew I wasn't over eating or anything. I

was losing weight. But I let the pain go on thinking it was normal...I

continued with the pain until June of 1999 when I finally was in soooooo

much pain I could no longer stand it.

Went to my doctor who sent me to another doctor who ran some test and found

a deep ulcer in my stomach.

It was positive for bacteria and I was treated with two antibiotics which

did clear up the bacteria but not the ulcer.

I was treated with more meds and it still is not gone...

Well during this past week I have had more problems and after more tests we

have found out the ulcer had eaten through the staple line enough to allow

food into the other part of my stomach.

Now I am going back into surgery for stomach reconstruction surgery and they

will be also removing the ulcer.
