I'm curious about that too....mine is right behind and in between my rib cage. Yes, , the locations where people feel their pain differs in each individual. I think some of it has to do with the type of pancreatitis they have, whether it's calicific pancreatitis or obstructive pancreatitis. For example, my pancreatitis is calicific, with pseudocysts. I don't have any duct obstructions or bilary problems that could be helped by stenting, as some can. My pain is located where my pseudocysts are, in the tail and mid section of my pancreas, so the pain I feel from them is located down by my navel in the left belly area. I also have pain " around " my ribs, at the base of my sternum, where it feels as though a tight band was squeezing around me. Additionally, in my left shoulder blade and along the mid back line the pain can be most intense. Other people complain of right sided pain. Others left. It really is a most individual thing, but I do know that for almost all of us, the pain can become so intense that we're bending over at the waist in agony, uncapable of doing anything until it settles down. That's why it can be difficult for doctor's to diagnose. They can't just point to one specific spot in our abdomen and say, " if it's panceatitis, the pain should be right here " ......it doesn't work that way. I just got on line and haven't read the posts to see yet how your appointment went yesterday afternoon. I'll be curious to see how it was. With love, hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H.
