Carrageenan in Infant Formula and Autism

Here is my rationale

Carrageenan encourages the growth of gram-negative (e.coli,

klebsiella, etc) bacteria. Carrageenan is not fermented (digested)

by most bacteria in the colon, but is fermented by gram-

negative " bad " bacteria as described in this study:

Gram-negative bacteria cause a reaction in the small intestine,

because it considers them to be a pathogen.

Therefore, over time, the gram-negative bacteria that ferment

carrageenan will grow in number in the intestine during formula

feeding. Infant formula of course is the infant's primary

(sometimes only) food for many months.

The overgrown gram-negative bacteria eventually backflow thru the

ileocecal valve (between the large and small intestine) and invade

the small intestine, thus causing a neurological reaction to the

gram-negative bacteria, and excess toxins from the misplaced

bacteria.

If this is true, then perhaps autism can be cured with antibiotics.

I know that sounds difficult to believe, but it makes sense to me.

If you can see anything wrong with this theory, let me know.
