Guest guest
I was on Keflex over a month ago for cellulitis in my leg. Could that have caused this thrush business even though it was a month ago? Thanks Kaye
Guest guest
Thats possible I guess. Thrush is a yeast infection and just like when we get a vaginal yeast infection it can be caused by killing off all bacteria even the good bacteria that consumes the yeast. Keflex is one of those meds that stay in your system for a while after taking it for a spell; so technically it is possible but a month is a pretty long time. My guess is that your immune system was a little depressed, much like most of ours get from time to time with flare ups and the like, and allowed the yeast to over grow. If your still feeling that strange feeling in your mouth, you probably need to be on an oral antifungal, like diflucan, for a bit. Also if you notice painful urination or redness and itching down below that means the yeast in your mouth has gone through your urinary tract and its there now. See your doc immediately. The swish and swallow stuff is good for both arenas for yeast but takes a while and you must be consistent. Ask for the pill, diflucan, its a lot easier and usually will knock it out in 1-2 doses. I hope this helps Kaye, I'm so sorry your have troubles again, things have been going so well. Have you called Cotton for an appt yet? Are you seeing Rob Hawes? He's great, and has been very patient and kind with me. Warmly, > I was on Keflex over a month ago for cellulitis in my leg.
