Guest guest
, You can do the baths right now. The Epsom salts help to draw the toxins out of your body. For my two two year old boys I opened up 1 capsule of activated charcoal and put it in their juice cups (diluted of course). They didn't have too much of a problem drinking it. That also helps to absorb toxins. Just make sure to give it one hour before meals so it does not also absorb nutrients. What you are describing in behavior is very normal at the beginning of the diet. It is normal to feel worse before you feel better. Do not feel badly about going of the diet yourself. Get your children through it first and then go back on the diet. That is what I did. I went on the diet a couple of months after my two boys did. I did not need to go through withdrawal symptoms at the same time they were going through it. If you feel you introduce bananas too quickly just pull them out for the time being and make sure to introduce any new foods very slowly. Are you giving them the SCD yogurt? That is very important. I've been reading all the postings for at least a month, trying to prepare myself to do right by my children. We did 2 days of intro. Yesterday (day 3) we introduced ripe bananas. The children were thrilled! But at bath time (evening) I noticed a rash on my 7 yr old/asd all around his hip area. My 4 yr old/nt daughter has been walking on tip toes for two days and has dark circles on her very pale face. My 22 month old/asd son used three words together for the first time right in front of his speech pathologist. Today they are all so miserable, so hungry. All they are eating is ground beef, scrambled or hard boiled eggs, boiled carrots in chicken broth, diluted welch's grape juice and scd gelatin and now bananas. They are all constipated, no b.m. in 3 days. 4 yr old says her head hurts. Lots of tears, meltdowns here. I went off the diet myself at the end of day 2, was having cold sweats, chills and shakes. (I know, whimp) I will start over myself once I have a grip on the children. Is it time for epsom salt baths and activated charcoal? We are not under a docs supervision on this (been going to doctors for years and watching our beautiful boy waste away). Is the charcoal safe? I don't think I can get the two little ones to swallow capsules. Did I give bananas too soon? We just dread starting intro all over. My eldest is losing it right now. They are not getting any supplements. Baby is howling for " cerrrreal! " all day. Is there an optimal time for the baths/charcoal? Please do help. Guest guest
All of the symptoms you're describing are probably related to bacterial die-off. The kids are going to be fine.... but they will not feel good for a while. This is quite common..... and it means the bad guys are dying. That's what you want! YES, put them in the bath with epsom salts. That will help a lot. Yes, activated charcoal is safe. The caps can be opened and mixed in food or juice.... but beware, it's REALLY BLACK in color. Some kids will refuse it. I know one parent got around that by putting it in a sippy cup they could not see through. I know another parent that mixed it into SCD legal cookie dough and baked it.... then called the cookies " oreos " . I am not actually sure about what the best timing for giving it would be. I would think that you'd want to try to get it in before a meal. Maybe someone else can comment. You need to do something about the constipation right away, though.... go ahead and use the constipation protocol from Elaine's website.... www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info .... in the " Knowledge Base " section under " C " . You may need to use glycerin suppositories or a Fleet enema to get this resolved quickly. Supplemental magnesium citrate can really help with constipation.... but you need to get them going ASAP if it's been this long. Don't continue with only intro diet foods....you don't need to " do intro over " .... it's time to go ahead and begin introducing some other foods. The bananas were an okay idea.... BUT, bananas tend to be somewhat " binding " for some people.... in other words, they will firm up the stool (as will cooked apples/applesauce). NOT what you want right now! So do the constipation protocol with the orange juice and prune nectar from Elaine's site. They need some vegetables for fiber. I would suggest some butternut squash or cooked pumpkin (the pumpkin pie filling recipe on www.pecanbread.com is loved by kids).... or green beans. You can do the baths a couple of times a day. You can also use homemade epsom salts lotion. Guest guest
What they are feeling is die-off of the harmful bacteria in their intestines. Yes, you should definitely give the epson salts baths and activated charcoal. You can crush up the charcoal, and mix it into some homemade applesauce or a mashed banana. Remember what you described some of theirs and your symptoms...headache, crying for cereal(bad bugs crying for their needed " drug " to keep them alive), chills, melt downs, ect...These are all symptoms of die-off. You can use Elaine's constepation protocall found on her web site to help get their bowels moving. Of course, that also is probably making them feel crummy. I know that it might seem hard to see them like this, but keep their healthy little bodies pictured in your mind. The die-off shouldn't last much longer...at least not this round...Remember that many people do go through multiple rounds of die-off, but you probably won't see it again until around the three months mark. Guest guest
I'll jump in with what our dan dietician said about using activated charcoal. She told me to give it two hours prior to or two hours following eating. If you need to mix it into food in order for your child to eat it, that fine. Just remember that the charcoal will absorb any nutrients as well as the toxins that the bad bugs are giving off. That's why it needs to be two hours on either side of a meal. " The bad gut bacteria are not happy that you have messed with their favorite food supply, sugar and starch. They are cranky, no infuriated and will put up a battle while you starve them out. Bananas are not on the Intro Diet but are among the best early tolerated foods. Pull them for a day or two then try small amounts and make sure they are very ripe. I will allow the moderators to advise on charcoal and epsoms salt baths which have proved to be very helpful. >
