Guest guest
Hello- Does anyone know what type of paint is the best to use on the bands? Any brand names or just a type. Thank you!
Guest guest
I used Apple Barrel Gloss brand Indoor/Outdoor Acrylic paint (From Wal-Mart)on my son's first helmet. It held up pretty well. I did have to do touchups about once a week because it would chip a little around the edges, but overall it stayed pretty nice. However, I used the same brand of paint on his 2nd helmet and it did NOT hold up as well. It would peel off constantly, not just chip a little, but literally peel. I would have to peel off pieces and do touchups all the time, every day. I could have just peeled all the paint off in one piece if I wanted and left it white to save me all the trouble but I was stubborn. I have no idea why the paint stayed on the first helmet so much better than the second. My son actually ended up getting a 3rd (the 2nd was helping with his brachy, but not his plagio so they made us another one for free) so with the 3rd I used fabric to decorate it. > > Hello- > > Does anyone know what type of paint is the best to use on the bands? Guest guest
We used the cheapest acrylic and it did ok but later when we went back to the craft store we ended up talking to a very experienced crafter who was getting paint and she recommended cream coat brand. It was more money but went on smoother (so easier) and chipped less though if we put it and mod podge on too heavy we still had pealing issues On 8/26/09, steph_vacca <steph_vacca@...> wrote: > Hello- > > Does anyone know what type of paint is the best to use on the bands? Guest guest
It wouldn't hurt to check the amount of VOC's in those paints and how long after the application the VOC's are being emitted. I could only imagine, since now they are making paints VOC free, that it probably isnt the best thing for your baby to inhale. It wouldn't hurt to check with the Pediatrician. > > > > Hello- > > > > Does anyone know what type of paint is the best to use on the bands? Any brand names or just a type. Guest guest
I just used regular non-toxic acrylic craft paint with a few layers of Mod Podge on top to seal it, and it's held up pretty well so far. > > > > > > Hello- > > > > > > Does anyone know what type of paint is the best to use on the bands? Guest guest
Acrylic doesn't work as great as airbrush, spray paint or somethimg but we used it b/c lack of smell and totally non toxic. Creamcoat brand worked best On 9/24/09, herbivortex <herbivortex@...> wrote: > Any ideas for paint brands/types that are non-toxic/not smelly and work well > on the bands for decoration? > Thanks! > > -- Sent from my mobile device -mommy to Emma, Becca, , and A truly rich man is one whose children run into his arms when his hands are empty. ~Author Unknown
