Guest guest
Hey y'all, Has anyone heard anything more about Chrissy? I was not able to drive up to ton again yesterday as I'd hoped. I went to Macon on the weekend for one of my daughter's engagement parties. It was a lovely function and nice to meet the many friends of her fiancee's parents. Unfortunately the normal three hour drive back Sunday took me closer to five hours as the state of Georgia was wracked with one tremendous lighning and heavy rain storm after another, with wind gusts up to 60 mph and hail. I crept along the highway in this torrential rain, unable to pull off because the rain was so thick and much of the highway was under construction, with cones on the sides, and the traffic still moving enough so that stopping was just as dangerous as moving. Each time I thought I saw a place to pull over it turned out I was on a large bridge crossing over some river or drop off....needless to say I was scared silly and stiff with the concentration and strain of it all. I hate driving in those raging heavy rain storms where you can't even see the front of your car, much less anything ten feet in front of you. Anyone else that lives in the south knows exactly what I'm talking about. It's the only place where I've seen rain storms of this intensity, and I've lived all over the US. The Jeep was hydroplaning something fierce at many occasions, so driving took all my concentration with both hands firmly attached to the steering wheel the entire time. Six different sets of highway patrolmen passed me in 6 car convoys, or the same set of 6 patrol cars passed me on six different occasions....haha, I couldn't tell which!! It was really strange, and the first time they appeared behind me I quickly looked down at my speed to check that it wasn't me they were after, but I was below the posted speed and pulled into the right lane to see them pass me by. When it happened five more times, with the same number of cars, I really began to wonder what was going on, but I never did find out. All the stress of the drive alone brought on a bit of a bad flare so I spent the whole day yesterday in bed, trying to nurse it down so that I'll feel well enough to travel again with my husband on Thursday. It seemed to have worked, I felt so much better today, but I had an appointment in Savannah this morning and another here in Bluffton in the afternoon, so I wasn't able to get up to ton. So has anyone heard anything more, or has Chrissy called anyone with any news? She was supposed to be released yesterday, if all was well. I'll be watching the MB to see what the news is.
