Guest guest
Sandy, Did your doctor do a strep culture on your throat ? If strep is left untreated it can cause severe heart and kidney problems. If you are sure that you do not have strep throat and do not need antibiotics then that is good, however if your throat hurts that bad and you have not had a strep culture you may need antibiotics. Another thought only after you are certian you do not have strep is to try a herb that you can get at any drug store called Goldenseal. It is a natural form of antibiotic. It sometimes is combined with Echynacia (SP). I have used it before and it did not flare up my pancreas but you may want to read up on it first if you are considering trying it. However it will not help a strep throat. My son woke up this am with a bad sore throat and I am on my way is a few minutes to take him to the pedictrician. Something is going around. I sure hope he does not want to kiss mommy today !!!!!! Hope you feel better soon, Lily RN from Ohio Needing advice Hello, I am in need of advice. I have checked with the RXLIST.com before asking you all. I have some sort of virus. It's making my pancreas mad because of the body aches and all, but I am dealing with it. My throat is real swollen and it hurts to swollow like crazy. My regular doctor prescribed me Prednisone pills to take and Lidocaine HCL to gargle with. Both of the these have side effects of pancreatitis. I try hard to stay away from anything with that side effect. Whether this is a rare side effect or not, it is still a side effect. Would you take it or deal with the pain from the throat? This is NOT to help my pancreas at all, obviously. I haven't had an attack for more than 2 years and haven't been to a specialist in 1 year and don't intend to go if I can help it for a long, long time. In case it matters I have been diagnosed moderate to severe CP with SOD as well. Thanks for your outlook on this.
