Guest guest
Hi there all....Does anyone know of the best place to take my daughter in Los Angeles to assess her plagio and brachy? My PT says that no one would helmet her as her plagio and brachy are too mild. But, I still see quite a bit of difference, especially while I am in the bath with her and from the top of her head. Also, I still see a bit of facial assymetry....one ear sticks out a bit, and one check seems to drop a tiny bit more, though no one else sees that. ( the cheek) Does anyone have any suggestions? My daughter is six months old. She has almost graduated PT and been going since 8 weeks old. One thing I have noticed is that her right arm, she has right tort, stays straight a lot while on her tummy, and she's hesitant to lift it, leaving her weight on her left. Maybe this is slightly due to the tort, but also because she is so clearly right handed? I just want to do everything I can for her. Thanks in advance. LilahSent from my iPhoneOn Aug 27, 2009, at 5:34 AM, <melanie.watson@...> wrote:  ,  This is consistent with my experience having been measured at both places, with the exception of my ortho saying that anything within 2 standard deviations is normal. I'm wondering if both places have updated norms that they are using.   Re: Sleepless nights.... I haven't read all the messages on this thread, but has anyone suggested memory foam? I never used it myself and definitely only use it if you feel comfortable, but I know a lot of moms have bought the twin size at Target or somewhere and then cut it down to fit the crib. You put it under the fitted sheet and it should help their heads nestle into the mattress and hopefully make it more comfortable. I think what the problem is, is that when they are laying on their back, the helmet is being pushed forward down on their forehead, and/or it's pushing their whole head forehead so that their chin is touching their chest, which they probably don't like. If the head is nestled into the mattress, their chin won't be so forward and it seems to help. Guest guest
We are in the LA area too! I know that CT out in Pasadena does free evals. You can go and get a full study done - with pics - and they can tell you if a band would help. We used Hanger, but I'm not sure if they do free evals or not. You can find out about it here: http://www.cranialtech.com/index.php?option=com_content & view=category & layout=blog & id=65 & Itemid=67 Jen Mom to Luli - 3 yrs old Torticollis, Plagio, Syringomyelia Bands and/or helmets in Los Angeles Hi there all.... Guest guest
We are in OC, so close to LA. We're taking my son (4 months old) to CT in Pasadena on Monday for an eval. I'm not thrilled about the drive, but feel more comfortable going with CT for the band if we need one. Good luck! > > > > > > > > > > > Hi everyone, > > > > > > My son is almost six months old and he got his Doc Band helmet this monday. > > > > It's been three nights and every single night he cries in his sleep. Guest guest
I also live in southern California and am using CT in Pasadena. So far we have had a very good experience. We drive 45 min once a week but it is totally worth it!! Good luck!
