Guest guest
Hello everyone, I hope to-day finds as many of us as possible enjoying a pain-free day. I'm back posting after a hectic few days. How quickly the messages accumulate! Last night we had our school's sixth-form leavers' celebration (like a graduation ball I suppose) and I met an ex-colleague who left us a couple of years ago to work in the US. He'd popped in to see some of the kids he used to teach. Sadly, he's developed pancreatitis and had seven attacks entailing hospitalisation. He is only the second person I've actually met face to face with this disease, apart from people sitting in the waiting room when I go to clinic, of course, so it was good to be able to chat. He's fantastically impressed by the pain care he's had in the local ER and with the overall treatment he's received in the US. Can't remember the hospital.....in Detroit I think. Anyway, they don't allow him to experience any pain at all. I think he's had to spend a few days in hospital each time. BTW, after a week living in clodhopping boat-sized shoes, I actually managed to wear evening sandals last night and even to dance a couple of times. I couldn't believe it. It's been hard to even walk with my " metatarsalgia " at times recently. I'll have to keep " ordinary " shoes for very special occasions? Anyone want a wardrobe full of shoes? I've finally decided to try properly to reintroduce gluten to my diet. I had a bad time last week from the pain point of view anyway. Now, if I'd had any gluten, I'd possibly have put it down to that but I was following my strict gluten-free diet. I think the fluctuations in my pain are probably just chance. So here goes; I'm going to try for a full week to eat something containing gluten every day. It would certainly be very convenient to be able to eat ordinary bread etc. again. It would also be great not to have take gf foods away with me on holiday in case I can't find any wherever we happen to be going. The worst that can happen is that I have to abandon the experiment and go back to gf. I'll try to catch up with individuals as much as possible. With warm wishes to you all.
