I am probably one of the weird people who doesn't like the taste of splenda

in MOST things. Don't mind it in some things...but if I use it in tea or

coffee...don't like it. Can't do stevia either. Makes my lips and tongue

numb.

There is a discussion going on on the AMOS board about Splenda. Some

are feeling that they are dumping on the stuff. One change I have

made in my habits, is that I am trying to get off Nutrasweet. I have

switched to Ice tea with splenda and am now wondering if that is

having an impact on me.

Having insomnia is not always a fun thing.

I know that Splenda is NOT allowed on the SCD, however I was researching it

because a friend of mine just insists that it is a fine thing to use.

Well, I found a list of prepared foods that contain splenda. I am adding

the URL only because I found _one_ food that I am still allowing my daughter

to eat. She is not totally on the SCD yet. I am slowly bringing her over

to the idea. She is 20 and Asperger's. If she were still very little it

would be easy to just change her diet. As it is I have to convince her of

the scientific merits. It is slowly happening.

So, just thought I would share this URL.

Jazz,

I got as far as Dr. Mercola's rather mournful photo but

I was unable to open the link.

You may still be allowing your daughter to eat an illegal food but

please don't confuse others with this info Jazz.

I know you are eager about research and anxious to share your thoughts and you

may be

making a gradual ransition to SCD.

That's all understandable.

If you are in doubt that my comments are unacceptable I refer you to

our list guidelines posted regularly which appeared just yesterday on the list:

Discussions and advertising of alternative diets, illegal foods, treatments

that are not recommended, or other subjects that are not part of the science and

practices of SCD are not allowed on the list.

Do not think you are being singled out for criticism as we are anxious to help

and support

you on SCD. Please do not take umbrage at requests to comply.

We wish to give similar consideration to others on the list, over 2600 of them.

We have

had an unusually large number of newcomers in the past few days, and it is

important at

the start that we are clear sabout legal and illegal food items as small

transgressions can

really hinder progress. Bad bacteria mulitply rapidly and chemically sensitive

items like

Splenda can also have a negative effect. We are working with both the brain and

the gut!

Just wanted to pass this bit of info on about Splenda even though it is not

scd legal. You may want to share it with a friend. I have a good friend

who's father-in-law and brother-in-law are food scientists. They went to, I

think it is Sweeden, where the Splenda company is based in to do a tour,

some scientific food studying, ect. Splenda is made from chlorine. I can't

give you all of the exact details, but I could ask again if anyone wants to

know. It was over a year ago that Gloria told me this. However, that is

what it comes down to. Splenda has chlorine in it. Yikes! That can't be

good for anyone. Gloria was particularly upset because she is diabetic, and

Splenda is something that is supposed to be a great substitute for

diabetics.

I just posted something about this on another list, but I'll

include a link here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Splenda

Like Carol F. said, esp for any newbies this can be a

challenge; " what is and is not okay? " . Wasn't there just something

on this list about Slurpees made with Diet Pepsi?

It does say in BTVC that a diet drink once a week may be okay for

some - a lot of them have Splenda.
