Guest guest
test that's done in the hospital is most conclusive to determine what the condition of the pancreas is ? Is it X ray, CT Scans, MRI's or other ? For instance, if there is a blockage of a duct, calcification, or any other abnormality causing pain, how would that be found ? Thanks. Doc. Guest guest
Doc, While it's said that the most conclusive is the ERCP, I believe the one thing that the ERCP doesn't show is calcification. This can be best seen on a CT-scan, or an ultrasound. The Ct-scan or ultrasound doesn't show any duct blockage or the condition of the ducts whatsoever. X-rays are relatively worthless. An MRCP is said to be nearly as good as an ERCP, it does show the ducts well, and is non- intrusive. So you can see that nearly each one has it's pros and cons. Any specific reason why you're asking this question? I hope this helps. With love, hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Griffeth South Carolina SC & SE Regional Rep.
