Guest guest
The nurse from the doc in Cinci called me yesterday. We are going to shoot for scheduling the surgery for the end of sept. That seems like a long time away, Ihope I can handle the wait. However, I have to have several tests and some immunizations and will need the time to get my kids settled with school so that seems to be the earliest. Its also near our birthday, my husband and I have the same birthday 9-25. Used to be a birthday extranvagaza when we were younger, but after 25 years the gala wears thin. I hope this is the right decision to make. It seems so final, you know, no turning back. But then again how many surgeries have I already endured to no relief from the pain. That will be my third MAJOR surgey in 6 months again. Thats kind of scarey because I dont know if my body had a chance to recover from the first surgery last october before having the second in april and now one in sept. It does seem like so very much. Well, its just a tentative time frame anyway. I haven't heard from any of the docs. I am so sorry that you were so terribly disappointed by the doc in Boston. Did he even do so much as a biopsy while he was down there. The EUS will just tell them what the outside of the panc looks like. Without a biopsy how does he know what going on inside. Also the only way to see the ducts is via a MRCP or ERCP and evidently he cant provide that. I think you should continue to persue this. There is abosolutely no reason why you sit there and suffer. Perhaps going to IU and seeing Lehman, if you can, would be your best bet. He is reknowned as one of the best endoscopist in the country. I had one of the best enoscopist in the country as well and I dont think I would have had the same outcome had it not been for him, Rob Hawes. He is the one who said I needed the tp/ict last february, he was right all along. If the doc in Cinci had just listened to him then, things would be a lot different for me now. The Cinci doc bases his decision on pathology only and he did not get that until have I had the partial resection last spring. I hope I have enough islet cells left. I haven't responded much to the post, although I do read them. I have been feeling very sick lately. More nausea and pain. , I know this is difficult for you and I'm sorry. It seems we all have had to fight at some point for an accurate diagnosis and treatment. Your PCP will base her decision on whether to continue prescribing meds or not on you not what some other guy said. She should know you well enough by now, Good luck and please keep me posted on what is going on. Warmly, Chrissy
