Many docs are ill prepared to deal with pain control in chronic pancreatitis. Mine's great, because he is also the hospice doc but many docs are clueless. There are a lot of pain control options, such as duragesic patches, a lot of different drugs besides the two you mentioned...but you need to get to someone who knows something about all these options and can prescribe them for you. Guest guest Posted May 20, 2004 Report Share Posted May 20, 2004 Anyse, if the doctor doesn't want to treat your pain, either get a new doctor or ask if he's willing to send you to a pain clinic to treat your pain. However, I'd check with the pain clinic first to make sure that they do treat with oral pain meds, as not all pain clinics do. Some just do pain blocks and biofeedback methods to deal with pain.
