Guest guest
I'd like to appeal to any of you parents out there who have seen positive changes in your kids, attributed to SCD, to post an update. Some of our brand new parents are badly in need of reading some positive reports.... and especially if you saw difficult things at first, with die-off or regressions.... followed by positive changes. Please share your stories!! We get the impression that many families who's kids are doing really well on SCD tend to leave the list... and get busy enjoying regular, typical lives... but I know there must be some still here. We need to hear from you!! THANKS... Patti
Guest guest
Definitely would love to hear positive stories! I just joined the list today. My 2.8 y.o. son with ASD has been on GFCF for only about two months--we got his OAT results back from Great Plains Lab on Friday and he is markedly high on the yeast and bateria (10x higher than average on HPHPA and yeast). We are starting SCD. His belly is often distended and only about 1/6 of his BMs are formed. Pieces of millet (from the GF bread) are often found in his stool. He is addicted to bread (first Peppridge Farm cinnamon swirl, then wheat, then GF bread) with peanut butter on it. He will also eat GFCF cookies and a wide variety of juice (including freshly squeezed juice that we make with spinach, apples, and carrots). (Before GFCF our son would also have milk, Yoplait yogurt, and PediaSure). I am reading BTVC and the pecanbread website. I know that I will never be able to start him in the authentic way (e.g., with the chicken soup). I was planning on the following for starters (would love any suggestions and words of wisdom): (1) The recipe for Eggless Almond Flour Bread from the pecanbread website with peanut butter or cashew butter on it (this would be what he eats every meal). (2) Freshly squeezed juiced made with steamed apple, pear, very ripe bananas, cooked green beans, kale, carrot, and avoacado. Based on my son's rigidity around food (and addiction to " peanut butter bread " ), this is the only way that I will be able to start. Any ideas? Thank you very much!! Guest guest
Hello everyone - We have seen amazing improvements in Luke since starting SCD. It was tough going; he had die off similar to when we started nystatin, but it simply convinced us that we were manipulating his gut flora, as predicted. Since starting SCD six weeks ago, we have seen improvements, or completely new behaviors, in a variety of areas. He started pointing for the first time since going on SCD. We have also seen fine and gross motor improvements, as well as greatly improved eye contact. And of course, his bowel movements are getting better (perfect one yesterday!). If gastro issues are part of your personal challenge, jump into SCD head first. brian --- Patti wrote: > I'd like to appeal to any of you parents out there > who have seen positive changes in your kids, > attributed to SCD, to post an update. > > Some of our brand new parents are badly in need of > reading some positive reports.... and especially if > you saw difficult things at first, with die-off or > regressions.... followed by positive changes. > > Please share your stories!!
