Guest guest
For those of you who have ear flares how long do they last? Hours, days, weeks? Does it vary from time to time? My right ear hurt for 2 hours one day and then suddenly stopped. Are yours only sore to touch or can you feel the pain without touching your ear/ears? Thanks! When flaring my ears are painful without touching them. I definitely know when I am flaring in my ears....first the heat starts, then the pain and redness. I never need to touch them to know when I am flaring. Keep asking questions! Guest guest
Hi, My right or left ear hurts for some days - until Pred works and I've taken enough. When it's worse I can you feel the pain without touching my ear/ears, I can not sleep on the riht or left side. Mostly I feel the pain early enough, so that I can take med. soon. Greetings Doris > For those of you who have ear flares how long do they last? Hours, > days, weeks? Does it vary from time to time? My right ear hurt for > 2 hours one day and then suddenly stopped. Guest guest
My ear flares are REALLY painful if I don't catch them in time. Now I know when one is coming and can take the proper steps. At first they feel like I have slept on them wrong, like bent over, but within a few days they are full blown. Now that I'm non medication they will hurt without touching and sometimes go away in a little while without turning into a flare. hugs
Guest guest
Hi Lori, I got RP back in 79, I had 1 bad flare that lasted 6-9 weeks. Then I got small flares in my back and throat and got fevers a few times. My ear swelled up,turn purplist-red and the pain was indescrible, you couldn't touch it and hurt when left alone too. I had a high-high fever that lasted 4 weeks, pain in my neck and 1/2 way down my back and my nose was swollen too. My sed rate was 155 a week before I was dx with RP, it took 17 days to get a dx, first 10 days was spent in my home town hospital. I didn't get a biopsy either cuz I had the top 4 symptoms of RP. I went on 60 mg of pred and in 4 mos I came off and when I got my flares later I went on pred or indocine. I had about 4 attacks in my back and about 5-6 in my throat and each time my sed rate was elavated. Until 2-99 I was in remission until 2-99 when I got TM ( transverse myeilitis )) which is another autoimune disesase that was trigger from my RP but sed rate was fairly normal, 1 was at 17. Hope this has been helpfull but you can see how different everyone is as far as symptoms go. Take care and hope you find out what the dx will be. Guest guest
when my ears flare, it seems to go from one ear to the other at times. I usually take pred. when it flares because i can't sleep otherwise. I have yet to have a ear flare that last for less than 3 days to 2 weeks even taking the pred. I take arava daily and sometimes with the stress of my jobs, i still have what i refere too as major flares. chuck
Guest guest
HI everyone, My husband Sams flares always occur in the late fall and continue on and off all winter clearing around April. He is pretty much free of symptoms in summer. Sams flares involve right ear, eyes, ribs and back of neck. He take Plaqunil everyday, and sees his Rheumy every three months to check his liver because Plaqunil can effect the liver. When Sams ear flares it gets red and purple and swells. When his neck flares it also looks red.
Guest guest
I have been having ear flares since March when I was dx. When I ws dx my ear was red and painful swollen. Plus, the sounds in my ear are terrible. Everytime I think it's going away it comes back, especially when I lower my prednisone. I also get joint pain and back pain and costochondrits--among other things. Sharon
