Guest guest
Dawn Post Op for me wasn't bad at all, I got up a few hours after surgery and went to the bathroom and things have been getting better since. The hardest part I think is trying to make your mind up not to eat solids for two weeks. > >Reply-To: MiniGastricBypass (AT) egroups (DOT) com >To: MiniGastricBypass (AT) egroups (DOT) com >Subject: how is life post op >Date: Tue, 05 Sep 2000 19:20:59 -0000 > > I was wondering how life is after the surgery. Guest guest
> I was wondering how life is after the surgery. Is there any bad side > affects any pain how are your eating habbits ect... Great name, Dawn! I am a pretty new post-op (had the MGB on 8/9/00). Life is wonderful after surgery! I have never had any pain and never had to take a pain killer after leaving the hospital (although the morphine pump was great)! I had surgery at 5:30pm on 8/9 and was released from Durham Regional at 6:45am on 8/10. I felt good enough later in the day on 8/10 to go back to the hospital to visit other patients. Since shortly after two weeks post-op, I have been able to eat almost anything I want, just in small quantities. Eating smaller portions has not been a problem, because I'm not hungry (very strange)! The only foods that have been difficult have been tomato soup and rice, although I tried rice again yesterday and did fine. I just tried chicken and salad a few days ago and they were great. In fact, I crave salads more than ever! I haven't tried steak yet, but have never been a big steak eater, so I'm not real anxious to try it. I gradually brought in new foods over the last two weeks and have always been cautious trying new things--just a little bit at a time. As of last Saturday, I'd lost 21 pounds. I'd like to hit 30 pounds by next Saturday (my 1-month anniversary), but will be happy even if I don't make the 30-pound mark! If you have any questions, please feel free to email me directly. I'd be happy to give you any info you'd like. Have a great day! Dawn Jester Wichita, Kansas
