Guest guest
Hey, Ken! I re-read one of your e-mails and you seem so excited... I am having a hard time at work because all I can think about is my surgery date and that's also all I want to talk about. It's a funny feeling because not too many people know about my surgery...so there's no one to talk TO! Anyone else feel this way? I am in a high profile job and feel like this is kind of personal. Also, when I do talk to folks about it they tend to give advice like " Honey, I have this great diet...the pounds will just melt away! " As if I had never thought about that before! Thank the good Lord my secretary knows about it so I bend her ear every morning before anyone else is around! Also, THIS is a dilemma...My senior pastor (also my boss) wants to pray for me in the service Next Sunday...So the entire congregation can pray together for me. Well, what will we say we are praying for me FOR?? I WANT them to pray for me with all my heart...but don't really want all the advice and questions I'll get if the whole church knows about the surgery. So, it's kind of a catch 22. I would love to hear any advice you all may think of. Any way, I just want to say thanks for being so enthusiastic...I am living vicariously thru all y'all! CAN'T WAIT! Tami P.S. You know you are a real Okie when you say all y'all!! And Ken keep that count down going! Re: Your Date? > Tami; > > Yes, I'll be there on the 20th with y'all (I'm working on my southern > lingo). Well, what will we say we are praying for me FOR?? That you are having surgery (or gastric bypass surgery, if you want to be sort of specific), and they can pray for the surgeon, the hospital staff, and you during the surgery, and then for your speedy recovery and good health. He doesn't have to say it is weight loss surgery and anybody who wants to know more than that it's " gastric bypass surgery " who asks you, you can respond, " How very kind of you to be concerned! I've needed this surgery for awhile and I really appreciate your prayers. " If they persist (most people aren't that thick but some are), you just repeat " I'm having gastric bypass surgery, it's a pretty serious operation. I really appreciate your prayers and concern. " Just sort of keep that up, kindly and sweetly repeating the same information, until they get the idea. > I WANT them to > pray for me with all my heart...but don't really want all the advice and > questions I'll get if the whole church knows about the surgery. Guest guest
Couldn't the pastor just say 'Please pray for all those about to undergo major surgeries? God will know. Guest guest
Tami; I knows how you feel about this procedure being personal. That's how I felt 4 months ago. I am a mechanical engineer and I own my own company with about 20 employees, so I am a little high profile too. I used to be a little embarassed that I had to have surgery to control my " pie hole " as another obese individual called it, but I just don't feel that way anymore. I love to talk about it and I love to share it. Most of my colleagues are rather impressed that I would got to this extreme, as they call it, to resolve my obesity. I've talked about it with members of our congregation as well as our minister so they know too. EVERYBODY that knows me, knows. I guess I'm setting myself up to succeed. Everyones going to be expecting me to lose weight now, right? By God, I'm not going to let me down! I have never been so pumped for anything like this in a long time. It feels good to have hope, you know? I am just so excited for this. I am excited to meet you, and Doc Rutledge, and all the others getting replumbed on the 20th. I look forward to hearing a story in this group about someones great weight loss, or to hear the doc read a letter about someone gaining respect, and joy, and life, and have it be about me. It's my dream and my prayer every night. 14 days and counting... Ken Grakauskas > Hey, Ken! I re-read one of your e-mails and you seem so excited... Guest guest
Ken: There is a wonderful smug feeling that comes out of having been clever enough to have found this site, this surgery, this Dr....and losing this much weight! Makes me feel kind of superior...LOL....So I blab to the world. Should they have a judgement about the surgical solution of morbid obesity it is their problem. I cannot help it if some folks choose to remain in the dark about medical obesity and it's cause and it's cure. You have a wonderful attitude about this upcoming surgery! You will do well with your attitude! You deserve this. You were clever enough to find this site, this surgery, this doctor. Not everyone is as clever as we are. Please know that your dream and prayer for yourself was ours for us and is ours for you! We are an unselfish lot...and we want everyone to experience the life changing event we have experienced! Best wishes to you!
