Guest guest
I've just started this diet for my son, and am wondering if Shelton's Breakfast Turkey Sausages (Sold at Whole Foods)are legal. I know that they are GF/CF and are also sugar free. If anyone knows, that would be great! Thanks.

Guest guest
We used a lot of Shelton's products while GFCF but most of their stuff has " spices " listed in the ingredients or potato starch & such things so we don't use them now on SCD. Guest guest
I personally would not trust Shelton's. They are the ones that suddenly started adding potato starch to their formerly-legal chicken hot dogs a few years ago. If memory serves, there was some doubt at the time as to whether they changed the labels at the same time.... or whether they went ahead and changed the recipe, but continued to use up the old packaging. At any rate, it was a big shock to some SCD parents that were gleefully buying them every week. It was a good lesson in trust... and a reminder that we need to ALWAYS read labels.... every single time. Even then, you really can't be sure, though. And, while I'm on this soapbox, I'd remind you that even if you have written confirmation from a manufacturer, you can't be sure. If they change their recipe or whatever, they certainly are not obligated to contact you and give you advance notice. You'd be better off going to the meat counter at Whole Foods and asking if they have a fresh sausage that contains ONLY single spices and zero sweetener, starch, etc. They will provide you with a detailed list of ingredients for any of the meats they prepare at the store.... and you can talk to the manager face-to-face. Patti SCD legal? I've just started this diet for my son, and am wondering if Shelton's Breakfast Turkey Sausages (Sold at Whole Foods)are legal. I know that they are GF/CF and are also sugar free. If anyone knows, that would be great! Thanks.
Guest guest
I just noticed that in checking the website today after seeing that post. I had been using Shelton's when we were GFCF, thinking there was no potato in it (baby is sensitive so since he is nursing I cannot eat potato). I thought I was " potato free " becz Shelton's does not list potato starch on their pkgs of turkey & chicken franks. HOwever, on the website I was shocked to see potato starch as an ingredient! I did not eat them regularly, but the kids did. That's really annoying. I'm actually really glad we're not using their products anymore becz that was potentially troublesome for us & deceiving of them to do. Michele > > I personally would not trust Shelton's.
