Guest guest
What a great idea! Packard Children's Hospital (Stanford) has the various sizes of Exacta-Med oral syringes for $.50 apiece. Best price I've seen around here so far. At Walgreen's they are $1.99!!! but there they come with a handy plugger/stopper/dispenser for the bottle. Becky , mom of Ricky 7 with CF and Andy 5 no CF Price Watcher List I had an idea that as a group we should try to maintain a price list of common things we need to purchase. Since my son is young, I can list the items that I'm interested in finding the best price on, and where I last purchased them. Most of the items I'm listing below are not covered by my insurance. Would anyone else care to add to or update it? Is there something else out there that makes your life and your child's life easier. Guest guest
We get our Exacta-med syringes from Baxa corp, but they are almost $.27 a piece. What is Nestle AdditionsFood additive? We might be interested in splitting this with you. Is it like Scandishake or Scandical? We get our medicine cups from Sams too. We buy Pediasure at Walgreens. Not cheap, but they carry the fiber ones. Thanks for the info on the Bubbles the Fish mask and Control III. We want to get a mask but our home health care company says they do not carry it. I will just order one. It is almost as if someone needs to give a parent of a newly diagnosed cf child a supplies list, just like they do when you start school each year. It is so hard to track all of this stuff down on your own. So much trial and error. Thanks for the great info. I will pass on your e-mail to my husband. I know you guys met at the CFF event. He doesn't post on the list, but reads the digests occasionally. How is your son doing? Guest guest
We have switched to Wal-Mart's brand of pedia-sure made by their parent's choice company. The last time I checked it had all of the same cal/fat/ and nutrients of pediasure at only $7.25 a six pack instead of the $11 we pay for pediasure. As an added bonus, Patti thinks it tastes better. (It sure does smell better anyway.) Dawn mom of 4, 7 and under, the youngest wcf
Guest guest
This is a fantastic idea, price watcher list. But nice to know that walmart has a brand of Pediasure, thanks, I can find it here sometimes on sale for 9.99 but 7.25, it sure is better. Thank you again Dawn! Thank you , too for the grat idea! > We have switched to Wal-Mart's brand of pedia-sure made by their parent's choice company. Guest guest
This is such a fantastic brainstorm! I like your idea so much, that I've created a database on the cfparents group site where members can enter information so that it's all in a table at one location. This will (hopefully) make it easier to find the information when we need it. You can put information in by going to http://health.groups.yahoo.com/cfparents/ and clicking on " Database " in the left-side column. Then click the title " Price Watcher List " From that page you should be able to " add a record. " After you enter the info for each field and submit the record, Yahoo (predictably) displays an error message. Don't panic, though, because I put in the first record and got an error message, too, but it showed up in the database anyway. If we keep records this way, it should make a nice little database of best deals on our frequently purchased supplies. I may have made this sound much more complicated than it actually is. I encourage anyone with Price Watcher info to go try putting it in as described above. It's really simple. Let me know what you think! ~ Albright mommy to 3, the youngest with cf > I had an idea that as a group we should try to maintain a price list of > common things we need to purchase. Guest guest
After listening to the webcast " avoiding germs " I am wondering what's the most cost effective/cheapest hand solutions for home use? I am looking for those they have in hospitals to kill bacteria in the hands. Seems to me that we should all be buying wholesale... > > What a great idea! > > > > Packard Children's Hospital (Stanford) has the various sizes of > Exacta-Med > > oral syringes for $.50 apiece.
