Guest guest
Luke was scanned for a STARband on 3/26/09 and our insurance finally sent us a statement indicating that we owe $200 out of the $3500. Not sure if this helped, but before we went for the scan, I called up BCBS and was able to talk to the person who handles DME cases. I plead my case to him about how Luke was born with a misshapen head and that his pedi wasn't pro-banding, etc. After Luke was banded and we were having problems with the fit, I called the same person up to talk about changing orthos. He was very helpful and again, I tried my best to put our situation in the most pitiful light as possible. I don't know if that helped with their decision, but whatever the case, I knew that if they didn't cover the band, I had someone that I could contact and talk to on a more personal level about getting some coverage. He also told me that BCBS follows Anthem Blue Cross guidelines for DME, pictures are good as are any documents indicating that the band was a medical necessity.
