Guest guest
i have to thank you for pushing me to get the nystatin without sucrose. i mixed the powder with his diluted welch's grape juice tonight and he didn't even notice. my son does not like anything frozen. but i will try the almond butter brownies if you could tell me the brand of almond butter to buy. he ate a small cup of homemade applesauce today by sticking a plastic french fry in and licking it off. he also tried a spoon and fed himself which is a first!! i left him at the table over half an hour and did work in the kitchen and eventually he decided to dip the fry into the sauce and lick it. i had to throw 2 raisins into the sauce to get him interested in it but i am not going to do that anymore. the key was to not fuss or make a production out of it. i didn't offer to spoonfeed him either. i acted like i didn't care one way or another wether he ate and it worked!! a lot of it was a control issue. i still don't know how or when we will get him to eat vegetables or soups. he will eat pureed pears and apples for the rest of time if i let him. i am going to have to get more help or i will lose my mind. with 2 4mos old babies i am having a hard time juggling all these doctor appts, therapists and now the special diet. i have to figure out how to run the ABA therapy out of my home too. our lives will never be normal!! Guest guest
I'm glad you're switching the Nystatin. Good job! Sounds like you're seeing a ray of hope with him eating.... that's great! <<the key was to not fuss or make a production out of it. i didn't offer to spoonfeed him either. i acted like i didn't care one way or another wether he ate and it worked!! a lot of it was a control issue.>> Perfect! You've got it..... this is good news. He's coming around! On the almond butter.... Maranatha brand would be fine. Or maybe Arrowhead Mills? Any brand that includes only the nuts and maybe salt is fine on the nut butters. You want to try to find one that is made from blanched almonds (without the skins). If you can't find that, maybe hazelnut or macadamia butter (spendy, though). Try Trader Joe's if you have one near you.
