Honestly, what I have learned is that even though a helmet can technically be worn for a certain length of time, there comes a point when it is not working as well as at the start. What I mean is, after so many adjustments, it is just not holding the prominent places as well.

When my son finished with his first DOCBand, there was still more foam that could have been shaved. However, it had been quite a while since we had seen any change and when I called to question this, I was given the above explanation.

When he "graduated" from Band #1, no one pressured us into going forward with a second band. We did it because we thought that maybe we could catch one or two more growth spurts before it was officially too late. Shane started with his 2nd DOCBand a 13 1/2 months and although progress is still slow, we feel better that he is a band that fits his current headshape.
