Resective surgical procedures include antrectomy, hemigastrectomy,

partial

gastrectomy, and subtotal gastrectomy (ie, resection of from 30 to 90%

of the distal

stomach with a gastroduodenostomy-Billroth I or

gastrojejunostomy-Billroth II), with or

without vagotomy. After resective surgery, as many as 30% of patients

have

significant symptoms, including weight loss, maldigestion, anemia,

dumping

syndrome, reactive hypoglycemia, bilious vomiting, mechanical problems,

and ulcer

recurrence.
