Guest guest
Dear , Congratulations! I wish you every success with your training and your teaching career. I'm a teacher myself (French) but I don't teach much these days as I'm the deputy head (one of two in our secondary school of 1300 students). Here in England that means you have a whole host of other things to do such as staff professional development, pastoral work, curriculum development, discipline, performance management, timetabling etc. etc. etc! I often forget why I originally went into the profession! I have to say that my work has really helped me over the years because it has kept my mind off the illness when I haven't been too bad. Since I got my CP diagnosis last year, school has really been a sort of therapy in distracting me from the worry of the disease. Obviously it depends on how ill you feel and I'm very lucky to have a superb Head. We've worked together for ten years so he would never question it if I had to go home unwell. Indeed, there are days when he tries to persuade me to do so.....but that might be because I'm sometimes a bit of a thorn in his side!!!! (No, seriously, if I'm not looking well.....you know that grey look when the pain starts.....?....he always suggests I go home to rest. I haven't had to yet since I began my new regime (Creon, low fat, no alcohol) but one is never sure with this disease. Well, good luck again, both with the CP and the new career. Your own children are very fortunate! With good wishes, Fliss
