Guest guest
My son was treated for torticollis and plagio and recently outgrew his helmet. He was only in it for 9 weeks, but went from 13mm assymetry down to 3mm. He's been out of his helmet for only one week, but I'm afraid his head is looking more flat again. His torticollis is gone, but he still prefers to sleep only on his " flat " side, no matter what I try to do. He's only 8 months old and so I'm worried it's going to get flat again. He has a Colgate foam mattress which is as hard as a rock. I know it's not recommended to put any foam pads, etc. in the crib, but is anybody aware of any approved mattress toppers for 8 month old / semi-mobile babies? Thanks in advance! I just can't help but worry that his poor little head is going to get worse again...
Guest guest
I was afraid of regression, too, so I decided to get a softer mattress (approved for toddlers) and a soft mattress topper when my son graduated at 10 months. I spoke with an infant physical therapist about it, and she said that when they're old enough to roll, they are old enough to roll away from danger so the softness of their cribs is not as much of a concern. If I were you, I'd take your son back to the ortho for a follow-up now and see if there's been any regression. You can talk with your ortho then about tips to avoid regression, including perhaps getting a softer mattress and topper. > > My son was treated for torticollis and plagio and recently outgrew his > helmet.
