Guest guest
Hi Everyone, Luke had a STARband from 4/8/09-6/10/09. He had severe brachy and mild plagio (97.5%, 6mm). When he graduated he was down to 88% and 2mm. I was very happy. However, my husband, who is normally the calm one in these situations:), started to obsess over Luke's head. He said it was still too " high " . My pediatrician said that if we banded again, it would help. If we didn't, it could cause problems with our relationship in the future with " you told me not to do it again, " " we should have done it when we could have, " etc. So, we are getting another band tomorrow, this time a DOCband from CT in Paramus, NJ. I am not looking forward to the whole experience, especially since Luke is almost 10 months now and was 5 months when we initially banded him. Which means, he will probably be in it for the whole 4 months. However, as one of my good friends said (and please forgive the cheesiness, but it helped me) it will a couple of months of misery for my husband and I and a lifetime of happiness for Luke. I really appreciate the support this group provides. I am actually thinking of becoming an ortho because of it. Guest guest
Hi Leila, Thanks for the support and words of encouragement. Reading and seeing everything you have been through with Maysa definitely gives me hope and confirms that this is the best thing to do. They were really wonderful at CT. They even showed me some PT exercises to work with Luke to get him moving more (Luke is a 95th percentile baby and has been slower to move around/sit up, etc). I have to say that this time around, it's not as bad as I anticipated. The DOC band is much smaller and lighter and I can still kiss his head and cheek easily. So far, he's been doing well with it, only the occasional scratching at the band. Hopefully these 4 months will fly by!
