Are you sure you haven't been in my brain lately?? I totally agree with what you said. For some of us, we've hidden behind our fat for most of our lives. Now we finally have the chance to really live and to heal both physically and mentally. It's scary, especially when we realize that we can no longer turn to food as our comfort. But, as scary as it is, facing those fears and knowing that we are doing it as a much healthier person is so empowering! Today is my six month anniversary. I simply can't believe the positive changes that are happening in me since my surgery. It's not just things that I or my hubby notice, but people stop me at church and even out around town and comment on what a positive change they see in the way I carry myself since surgery. One person even told me that I " exude self-confidence " ! I nearly laughed in her face! Me? Self-confident??? Guess what...I think she may be right! LOL I'm so much more sure of myself and willing to stand up for myself than I have ever been in my life. Every day I thank God for a PCP with the courage to suggest WLS and for God's guidance in finding Dr. R. What a gift of life for me and for my inner child!! {{HUGS}} Claire MGB-4/10/00 - 300lbs 10/3/00 - 230 lbs!!!! Guest guest
Hi Claire, You know I am more and more surprised everyday at just how much we all have in common. I read what other people write and it is amazing how much I can relate to what they say and feel. It does seem like we get into each others head once in a while. Being molested as a child is very common. I have learned to deal with what happened to me. The painful thing has been dealing with the fact that both of my daughters were molested too. You think of yourself as the protector of your children and you're careful to leave them with only the people you trust. That's what I did and I was betrayed. My Father molested my two little girls. I never would have dreamed that he would do such a thing...but he did. I feel like what he did was the ultimate betrayal. My beautiful daughters and my husband and I have had to do a lot of healing over the years. But it's like I said before, I am the one that hands out the power people have over me and my life. I'm not hiding anymore. I'm tired of pretending and avoiding life. My life is changing because I want it to change. Noboby is going to take my quality of life away anymore. I have been to Hell and back and it's made me a wiser person. I found Dr. R and I know in my heart that God sent me to him because with his help I am able to change my life. Dr. R is part of the plan God has for me and the funny thing is I don't think Dr. R realizes just how true this is. He has been given a gift and man can he dance!!!!!!!!!! I don't think I have anymore secrets from you guys. My life is pretty much an open book. I hope I haven't upset any of you. Guest guest
Genz, I am moved by your revelations. And so happy that you've moved beyond the pain and taken back the reins in your life. You are a wonderful example of strenght, courage and wisdom. Your daughters will do well. With you as their mom, hoe could they not? Stay well, and hang in there. You and I will both be crossing over soon. With great fondness, PhillyJude
