Guest guest
Let me preface this comment by saying that it is not intended in a sarcastic way to any degree. I probably have the best excuse of anyone though since I am blind. This book is not on cd or cassette, and it is only by the grace of God that I discovered this diet through the miracle of technology...the internet and screen reading software. My husband did read me the book right before we began the diet, and that was a miracle two since he works two jobs, has to run all of the errands(dr. aptss, grocery store, anything else that requires driving), has to do all of the yard work, and on and on. Not to mention we are also starting our own business, and that takes up a lot of his time as well. He already lives on about six hours of sleep a night, and I hate asking him to stay up any later to do something extra for me unless I absolutely can't get around it. So, I hope that everyone will be a bit more forgiving in my case. I do think that it would be an excellent idea for the publisher to have BTVC recorded to make available to people in my situation. Thanks for your suggestion for the crust. I will try it. Meleah Re: scd pizza > >> >> We're going to be at a pizza party for lunch on Wed. I've seen the beef >> crusted pizza > recipe. If your husband can read pages 61 to 81 to you several times, you will find most of the vital information about the proper foods there. I am sighted and have been on the diet for six years and have to refer to the book every day and still don't know all the answers so I can certainly understand the difficulties you are facing. If his time is limited, I suggest he start at page 73 which has all the basics about what foods to use and those to avoid. I often read a few pages before bedtime and it's a healthy sleeping pill. Even though it's not boring, I'm soon snoring. I rely on BTVC to supply answers to newcomers. Carol F.
Guest guest
Meleah, Maybe you should write the publisher and encourage them to get the ball rolling on an audio version. I wonder if anyone has ever requested it before? I think it would be a great idea to have BTVC as an audio book for sighted people, too, as it would be another way of getting the information to soak in. Sometimes hearing it reinforces what you may have already read. I must say, I think you might be the first blind list member we've had... at least, that I'm aware of. Thanks for letting us know. And KUDOS to your extra wonderful husband for all the great things he does. What a guy! Guest guest
I will absolutely contact the publisher to encourage them. It would definitely get the word out. So many sighted people use audio books simply for convenience at this point. My husband is awesome to do so much extra stuff. I will call Judy this afternoon while my kids are napping. > Meleah > Actually that was Elaine's number in the back of BTVC for ordering the book. Judy will probably be at work during the day. Tell her the number was in the book as she may not appreciate me giiving it as a personal contact and there may be someone else shipping books since she has a full time job. Carol F. Guest guest
Have you contacted any of the groups that do books for the blind? They may be willing to record it. If not, I'm willing to do a quick read of the book in audio format, which would include all my stutters, misreads, etc, and get it to you as quickly as possible. Or I could do a more professional job (cut and edited), or both. If the publisher is willing to do it, then of course their book will be better. The only problem is that I have an older edition of the book, so I would have to get a newer copy somehow. I have a variety of audio formats available, ranging from cassette tapes annd CDs to MP3s that I could email you as I record them. If interested, contact me privately and we can discuss options. If you want to hear my voice first, we can arrange a phone call. No point in listening to a horrible voice while trying to learn LOL. I was praying someone would volunteer this service. Thanks Sharon. Carol F.>
