Guest guest
I feel your pain and I am so sorry. It took me 3 years to finally figure out what I have always really known. No one loves our kids like we do and truthfully no one can help them except for us. We went through 2 years at a special school that cost 55,000 per year and then a grueling court battle with the public school system to help us pay for it. Thankfully, by accident, (kind of the way I found this wonderful diet!)I found the Institutes for the Achievement of Human Potential in Philadelphia. They know what my kid is really capable of and best of all, they ALWAYS believe in MOM! I took him out of school and have never looked back. We go up there every 6 months for reevaluation and for them to update his programs. He has made amazing progress but I am hoping that SCD will get him over the " hump " language- wise. Here is a link to a story our local paper did on my son, Zack. It may help give you strength! http://timesdispatch.com/servlet/Satellite? pagename=RTD/MGArticle/RTD_BasicArticle & c=MGArticle & cid=1137835545946 Good Luck! I am here for you! Guest guest
sorry so long. I am sick and I need some of your support please!? Jenn & K school problems............... > I am having a problem of confidentiality @ school with info. that's in my daughter's journal. It seems I am being supported to my face or on the phone and once I turn around I am being made fun of, a mockery, people laughing about die-off and other terms I use. I told them about BTVC and SCD and how it has healed her belly. I guess they just wanted all the glory for her progress. Her one-on-one aide was fired today quickly due to insubordination.? That's what the teacher was telling our district CPSE. It seems there's been some back-stabbing and when another aide is there instead of her reg., she pees in her pants, doesn't get the diet attention she needs and they have been feeding her organic popcorn. They thought it would be ok. She's been holding out @ school until they cave in. I just found this out and I'm fuming. I am not sending her back to the school ever and contacting advocacy on Mon. I am actually scared for her. No wonder why she has taken 17 months to get this far. I am > > >
Guest guest
le, The link didn't work for me but, THANK YOU for telling me that your son's school BELIEVES IN MOM. That is something that I think is underestimated by even good docs. I am so sad. The aide was trying to protect Kali from their ignorance many times and I'm sure that's why they decided to get rid of her.....? We have all been hurt so much in the autistic community. When does it all end? Jenn & K Re: school problems............... > I feel your pain and I am so sorry. It took me 3 years to finally > figure out what I have always really known. Guest guest
I would pull her out of school immediately, begin home schooling her, and contact an attorney immediately. I am not kidding...about the home schooling either. You can do it. People home school their special needs children all the time. There are local, state, and national groups who can specifically help you home school a special needs child. They can teach you how...although you already know how. People like to say that you have to have " special " training to know how to teach a " special " child. Give me a break. Please email me off list if you would consider this even this tiniest bit, and I will give you some info regarding all of this so that you can make an informed decision. Guest guest
I will be calling an attorney on Mon. I already tried and they were closed yesterday. I have been seriously considering homeschooling Kali. I did however get a chance to talk to her district CPSE and we are having an emergency meeting on Mon. morning also. The DISTRICT does support MOM! The class was great for her to be in until they decided to add 2 more kids. It is a small classroom already with 13 people total in it. These are all autistics too so you can imagine the " zoo " since the new kids were added. The classroom seems to be out of control. Please send me ANY info. you have about homeschooling. Without her reg. 1-1 aide I fear for Kali, as her safety awareness isn't up to par yet. She has come a long way but, needs more. Thanks for listening, Jenn & K school problems............... > > > >I am having a problem of confidentiality @ school with info. that's in my > >daughter's journal. Guest guest
I would make sure that I talk to the attorney before the meeting. I'd also be concerned about having my asd child in a classroom full of asd children. I think that kids on the spectrum need to be around nt kids rather than children who have the same issues that they do. I don't think that that environment is healthy or realistic. She must learn and be expected to function in the " real world " even if she needs special assistance. I can tell you that this is the best thing from personal experience. My two brothers and I are blind, and have been severely visually impaired since early childhood. When it was time to go off to school, the district wanted us in special ed classes. My parents fought them tooth and nail to have us in a regular classroom and accommidated appropriately. We learned to function even though our ways had to be a little different than anyone elses. Granted, we weren't suffering from neurological disorders, but I'll tell you that our aba therapist agrees with this 100%. She has told me that she's seen first hand that these asd children often act how they feel they're expected to act. Don't worry about the socialization if you pull her out of school. There are plenty of home school co-ops for social experiences. What state are you in? I can give you a little better direction for contact info that way. You should definitely check out the Home School Legal Defense Association web site. They have a wealth of info. It wouldn't be required that you be a member, but many families are. The biggest benefit of membership is that if you are ever given any trouble for home schooling, they will defend you at no charge from initial problems all the way to court if it went that far. Very few people who are members ever have that happen. Usually, the party drops the issue as soon as they hear from HSLDA. Anyway, I'll give you as much other info as I can. Definitely be thinking and praying about it. Meleah school problems............... >> >> >> >I am having a problem of confidentiality @ school with info. that's in >> >my >> >daughter's journal.
