Guest guest
Hey, I have som advice about SSI I applied for SSI for madison and I got it the very first time. The secret is list EVEYTHING that CF does to your child, take it to the extreme. I listed bowel obstruction, reflux, breathing treatments, school, playing, nasal problems, rectum prolapse, umm anything she had I named it. from breathing treatments to PFTS and even sexual reproduction and she is only two, so exagerate LIST EVERY DOCTOR, all dates everything. I applied in August i had the first check in October so just be as elaborate as you can. I dont know where your from but some states do not have seperation laws about maraiage it might help if you say yall are seperated...I know how desperate we can get and it seems with CF you have to do whatever you have to But if you have any questions email me at CFMOMMY21@... Guest guest
Hi Patty, Here in FL. The Social worker at the clinic should be able to help you get the forms. they are also on line. You will still eventually have to go in person. BUT you can find out what all you need to fill out & supply (med records ---tax records, etc.) Check with the at clinic. You certainly should be able to qualify if the salary per month isn't too high. His going in hospital will just raise your med costs & that might help .. BUT hospitalizations wont get SSI for anyone alone..........It gets down to the totals $4 in your home per month. LOVE & HUGS, grandmoMBEv SSI, attn:ESPECIALLY Bev! Howdy do,all?I am wondering more about cf and ssi.Now with Ty being hospitalized and missing so much school shouldn't he better qualify for ssi benefits.I cant go get a REAL job with him sick so much, but we like so many others, are tight on $!!Last few times ii appl, ied its been a nightmare, and i dont know where to go down here.Do i HAVE to get an atty???Could only find one in my area that will even handle children's cases.Current hubbie is cfers step father, so i thought theyre not suppose to hold his income against him. Thanks!!! Guest guest
Patty; it is done, the SSI part, solely on income qualification, but the question in your state is, whether they will consider, as they do here, the ill child to be a household of one, therefore with no income. Also, in YOUR state, are there supple mental programs such as what was formerly called Crippled Children's Services, or geneticly hanicapped programs for children, you being the home-bound care- taker. Here is the number (an 800 number) for State Children's Heal Insurance program as they administer many insurances and can get you the 800 number for SSA (which administers SSI) as well: 1-; I am sure Bev will have tons of information if you tell her what state you are in--what that woman does NOT know, we can all forget! Good luck! n Rojas SSI, attn:ESPECIALLY Bev! Guest guest
Hi, Bev.I'll give it a try again. The last time i tried to talk to the social worker, i find it useless, for lack of a better term. She is real young, and just didnt really have any answers.Maybe she was having a bad day though, and i'll feel her out again. Thanks for the books and tapes, that was great! Guest guest
Dear Patty, Try talking to RN Coor. Tell her what you NEED & perhaps she can " encourage " the SW to doa better job. .I'll try to get Meryl ( at my office) to check on line . She is a paralegal & might know some short cuts--paper wise. But still check at your clinic. They will have to be the ones with the med records anyway . too It is really a big pain to go thru all that stuff.......BUT in the end well worth it. keep in touch with me too LOVE & HUGS, grandmomBEv SSI, attn:ESPECIALLY Bev! > > > Howdy do,all?I am wondering more about cf and ssi.Now with Ty being > hospitalized and missing so much school shouldn't he better qualify > for ssi benefits.I cant go get a REAL job with him sick so much, but > we like so many others, are tight on $!!Last few times ii appl, ied > its been a nightmare, and i dont know where to go down here.Do i HAVE > to get an atty???Could only find one in my area that will even handle > children's cases.Current hubbie is cfers step father, so i thought > theyre not suppose to hold his income against him. > > Thanks!!! > Patty, mom to Tyler 8 wcf and 2wocf, in Sunshine State!!:) > > > ------------------------------------------- > The opinions and information exchanged on this list should IN NO WAY > be construed as medical advice. > > PLEASE CONSULT YOUR PHYSICIAN BEFORE CHANGING ANY MEDICATIONS OR TREATMENTS. > > ------------------------------------ > > > >
Guest guest
Thanks n, She is very near me & we are working with her with meds, etc. FL . goes on several different appeals. We also have CMS But it is a different process & IF the patient qualifies for Medicaid, then our CMSwill only pay for certain things NOT already covered. The paper work is done largely by the center ----the medical MUST come from them with PROOF papers. yes, we do have all the local #'s too . your very kind to try to help . As you said the Medicaid's are different in all states as is the CMS programs (at various names. too). We also have a " KIDS CARE " INSURANCE PROGRAM . RATES ARE LOW 7 IT COVERS SOME MEDS. ..$$ IS PART OF THE EQUATION FOR ACCEPTANCE. HAVE A HAPPY HOLIDAY. yOUR IN FULL SWING NOW, AREN'T YOUAL? love & hugs, GRANDMOMBEV Re: SSI, attn:ESPECIALLY Bev! Guest guest
Hi Patty, they probably will hold your hubby's income against your son (household income), but you may still qualify. Call the county courthouse and ask for assistance in finding a lawyer. Most places have " legal aid " for people. The one here has a sliding scale for payment. You might qualify for free or very low cost legal aid. They will fight to get you the ssi or medical assistance that your son needs. hope this helps.
