Guest guest
This is a quite old--sixties maybe-- theory first propounded by a veterinarian! In fact, I think I first read about in a health food store in the early sixties when we first moved to Berkeley and I was a young mother--selenium (too toxic in high doses) importance or not, it does not explain why soidium from the chloride channel is not resorbed through the sweat glands of those with especially Deltaf508 mutation! This is true quackery. I will look it up, the source and see if I can find out when it first came on the market as a " new " approach! Good Grief! Charlie Brown! Love to all at cfparents, n Rojas, the Irate! strange article I got this article from another group, but wow, I was so floored by this guy's claims that I had to post it here to see what you all thought. Personally, I think he is full of sh!t and is just trying to sell vitamins. www.wellnesstoday.com/october/minerals.htm this is an article where a " natural doctor " tries to put forth that CF is NOT genetic. apparently he believes that CF is due to a lack of selenium in the mother and mineral deficiency. Now, I believe that vitamins and minerals and other good stuff from the health food store will help people with CF be healthier (and people with out CF too) but PLEASE! This article is unbelievable. Just because he can produce similar symptoms by depriving animals of minerals does not mean that this former veterinarian is giving them CF!!!!!!! I mean, what about the gene mutations!!!!! DUH. who is shocked by the gall of this man.
Guest guest
Yes, this " natural doctor " IS the veterinarian who came up with the idea that CF is not genetic. His Name is Wallach and he was originally a veterinarian. He worked for the NIH and when he claimed to " give " CF to animals they threw him and his crack pot theory out. Then he decided to become a " natural doctor " and wrote a book with his wife published in the late 80's. strange article I got this article from another group, but wow, I was so floored by this guy's claims that I had to post it here to see what you all thought.
