Guest guest
Hi , No that is not a normal RP discomfort. My symptoms began with red eyes, not painful for at least 2-3weeks. Later my eyes were painful and i had bad headaches along with the sore eyes. My throat was tender to the touch for at least 2 weeks straight. Then i began to slowly lose my voice. My voice diminished to a whisper for about 1 month and it was hoarse. During this time, I think all the damage that occurred to my vocal cords, and the subglottic area of my Trach was because of bad flare us in this area. At the time i was with an HMO, and a regular family doctor. He wanted to treat me, and would not refer me to an ENT doctor or anyone else. I didn't get help until after a month of my sore red eyes, i asked to be sent to a eye specialist, because my eyes were not clearing up. My Opthalmologist had seen RP before in a man she once treated. Anyway she is the person who insisted to my doctor that i was sick and that he needed to refer me to a Rhuematologist and two weeks after seeing him, he called me and told me what i had. Jan 08, 1998. i would definately not settle for the answers that this doctor is giving you. This is a difficult disease to treat especially if your body is not responding to the known treatments. They have to think more, ha ha ha. I wish i had known the info that i know now about this disease, i would have taken my symptoms more seriously. Take care What is a flare? If you had these symptoms what kind of Dr. would you go to? My ears feel like they are stopped up and real bad pressure in them, my throat hurts and just to touch the outside is painful, my chest hurts and I am short of breath also the back of my neck and head hurts. I have been nauseated all day but I dont know if it is from the cytoxan or whatever. Is this a flare or what do you call a flare? I went to the rheummy last week and he told me I had fibro also because I hurt all over but only gave me a sleep med and if my ears or nose isnt red then no flaring. So I dont know where to go. I know they are tired of hearing me complain but not as tired as I am of feeling bad. I hate to complain here also but I just dont know where to turn. Flare or no flare that is the question.HAHAHA I was just wondering if this is a normal RP feeling or just something I need to just deal with.
