Guest guest
Does that much wine cook off? I don't know a lot about cooking w/alcohol. I do use it in recipes, but in my experience, it is usually a much smaller amount and is cooked off. I have young children and want to make sure it is okay for them. ======================================= When my brothers and I were little and giving my mother a particularly rough day, she would make veal scallopine for dinner and throw in extra cream sherry. Guaranteed her an early bedtime with us that night. Regina

Guest guest
I don't know about recipes.... I just cook by instinct. ;-) But, I use my crockpot all the time. Mostly for these things: Fill a crockpot with peeled, sliced apples.... put the lid on... cook all day.... INSTANT APPLESAUCE. Lightly oil the inside of the crock with olive oil..... insert whole chicken (washed and dried)..... stick fresh rosemary sprigs (hastily yanked from hedge outside my back door), garlic cloves, ground pepper... into the cavity. Put lid on (I don't add any water at all), cook six hours..... DINNER is served. Chicken is VERY tender.... whole house smells yummy. Pour off the " juice " and add to next night's soup pot. Guest guest
I start it out on high.... until I know it's pretty hot through..... then set to low. If I'm going to be gone all day, I just set it on low and leave it longer. If I'm home, I'll give it a stir once or twice.
