Guest guest
hi guys, i joined your group a couple of weeks ago and have enjoyed reading posts trying to get my head around everything! i have been planning to do the intro diet in school holidays which start this week... we will start it on saturday but just have a few questions - if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated! a bit of history... audrey was 3 years in july. she was born angry, screaming 6 or 7 hours a day and hardly ever sleeping. around 1 year i started to suspect extreme food intolerance as she was very restless / hyper / anxious / ocd - just a very difficult toddler who was extremely hard to please! we started to do an elimination diet at around 1.5 years with great success but she could only tolerate around 8 foods to maintain baseline... so we began seeing a pfeiffer biomed doctor in decmber last year to heal her underlying conditions - leaky gut, extremely high strep and possibly candida (she has silly outbursts, giggling and rolling all over the floor and gets very irritated bottom/vagina). we have made alot of progress with her tolerating lots more food now but still issues with bloated belly and constipation. i saw natasha mcbride talk at a dan/pfeiffer conference here in sydney in march and found her to be inspirational and everything she said made sense. has anybody read her book and do the very minor changes to the diet that she suggests? anyway, i then read elaines BTVC book and eager to start i sort of jumped right into things... so now, after many hours spent on your site, i realise we are pretty much doing stage 5, skipping most of the stages but atleast during this last month i finally got audrey loving soup so she wont starve like i was thinking she would on the intro this weekend! has anyone on the group healed or in the process of healing leaky gut and getting rid of pathogens? my husband seems to think SCD is extreme and maybe not needed for audreys issues - anybody want to share their experience? some guidance would be great! now for diet related questions - so when the book talks about waiting for the diarohea to pass before moving to a new stage... does this apply to constipation too? my daughter is usually (her first 3 years of life) runny or solid and nothing in between but since going on scd (stage 5!) she is very bloated and constipated so do i wait for that to pass before moving onto another stage? question 1. the chicken or beef broth on the intro diet - is this just made with chicken carcass or beef bones and water or can you add celery for flavour but then remove it before serving? question 2. on the intro diet when it says hamburger patties do you use minced beef and thats it or do you add some grated allowed vegies? question 3. my daughter can not tolerate grape in any way shape or form... can i make the jelly with pear juice or another homemade fruit juice? question 4. when it says apple or pear sauce in stage 1 does it mean stewed (cooked in water and pureed)? question 5. in stage 2 when you can introduce various fruit cooked - does this mean in the form of a cake or muffin or something? if not, how do you get your kids to eat cooked fruit? the fruit wont feed candida??? i have a few more questions but im so tired so i will post again tomorrow. thanks in advance!!! roweena x mum to audrey 3yrs sydney australia
