Good Afternoon!!!

Just got back from my appointment with my GI MD at University

of Chicago. My appointment kind of stuck. He feels the Augmentin

is not going to kill it. He said they need to be more aggresive, he

feels IV antibiotics will be the only way. He said he is writting

the ID Mds, Dr. Lehman and my cardioligist/PCP with his ideas/plan.

I told him not to mention the word aggressive treatment or they will

park me in the hospital. He laughed and said we will see. I asked

if we could do it as an outpatient? Maybe was the answer. So we

have a we'll see and a maybe. Not good choice of words. Both those

words coming from a doctor mean NO. He said he is willing to wait

until I am done with these antibiotics but he is still telling them

his opinion and what test he wants when it comes back. I said, " IF

it comes back " He just smiled. He wants a special MRI that

specifically looks at the pancreas. He gave me the report on the

cultures. The bugs are: Klebsiella pneumoniae and Enterococcus

faecalis. So I pray the Augmentin wipes it out. We will see. He

didn't seem very confident that it would kill it. So many different

opinions. Sometimes I think I have too many Mds. Does anyone know

anything about these bacteria. Just spill the beans, I can take it

if it is bad. Thanks ahead of time for any answers.

Love,

,

I am so sorry that the anti-biotics don't seem to be doing the trick of

killing the infection. However, if they have to hospitalize you to get

rid of it, you'll just have to accept that. Better as stay there to get

the IV anti-biotics, then to be there because the infection got worse

and did some serious damage to you.

I also wanted you to know that you will be in my prayers that things

clear up soon so that your ordeal is over with.
